Just reaching out for some advice

So, I recently started working for a non-profit organization that helps Saskatchewan construction workers bid on potential construction jobs all over the province. Although I've worked in construction my whole working life, I've never been on this side of things before. My job with this organization is head of pre-tender. This includes researching any construction jobs before they go to tender. Any information I can gather on the project before it's available to bid on, helps our Saskatchewan based members prepare a solid bid, which in turn benefits the project owner, as it insures they get the lowest, most well prepared bid possible.
Do you guys have any advice on tracking this information down? Have you heard of anything that I could look in to? The information you provide me with could be as little as, "I hear they're building an Arby's on 8th and Preston".
I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, guys!

Talk to whoever compiled the prebids previously, I think it was Matthew? Talk to the architects. I for one am personally not happy about the lack of prebid reporting from the construction association. We used to base our planning our companies labor and equipment expansions and project bid tracking based on this vital resource. I'm pissed that I need to spend more time and resources to figure this out now.

market mall development
So not clear to me if the sale of Market Mall to the Toronto company now means the plans for the condo development by the previous owner are now shelved? I think that would be very unfortunate. I know there was some opposition to the condo's (by the mostly senior population around there...of which my mother-in-law is one)...but it looked like a good development with an attractive design. Was good to see that some density/infill was going to happen in an established neighborhood and also think it could help to revitalize that 'stagnant' mall.

Would be nice to see them add at least 10!

And would be great to see City Center move forward based on the sales success of Parcel Y.

I think City Centre is a bit different, as it is a downtown core project versus river front...BUT, I agree....would love to see that go forward while construction and labour costs are a bit lower right now. But it doesn't appear as if North Prairie Developments is in any hurry to move on this.

i want NPD to move forward..but im afraid theyll just make it into a lot for a few years. a while back someone posted KSA applied for controls on a parcel on 25th/5th ave downtown. so that could be something to look forward too.

projects weve seen/heard of:

275 2nd ave S
river centre II
city centre towers
25th st/5th ave KSA
4th ave police station empty lot

no timeline on those, but they are still "proposed" . something just to think about. never know , someone might step up to the plate for the core downtown.

Hampton Village - Dream Centers

Here is a link to the site plan for the dream centers project in Hampton Village near Claypool Drive & McClocklin Road.
Not much info on tenants, but there is a Tim Horton's.

I wonder what colour scheme they'll go with. Grey on grey with faux wood accent, or the ever more adventurous beige.

Traffic Bridge

Watching Shaw's live coverage of the bridge construction. Amazing how fast the steel work goes up.

What is annoying about these development is the lack of pedestrian access. Take pretty must any of the strip mall development in university highs. I use to live in Willowgrove. Lots of sidewalks, pedestrian cross walk, sidewalks around the perimeter of the shopping area but absolutely nothing to tie sidewalk on the street to the shopping area. If you want to walk down to Shoppers or Tim Horton you have to walk through mud or snow pilled up on the grass.

What is it with the architects and planners that do these development. They try to walk the area allowable and them skip on a 2 meters of concrete to tie the sidewalks to the shopping area.

The public that voted on the design decided to pay more to get a replica. There were less expensive options including a cable supported bridge with less pillars proposed.
