I have no problem with the Leafs.....

I was a Fan before the Oilers made it to the NHL.

Its cool to see them actually rebuild and it start to actually turn around.

I regularly roll with my jays cap and planning a trip with the wife specifically to see the jays. didn't think I was really bashing. just a tangent from the possibility that the NFL could hold successful games in other Canadian markets and that people like myself who like the CFL and have a mild interest in the NFL would attend without the need to pass out free tickets the morning of to give the appearance of it being sold out.

Honestly, I can't see a NFL game at Commonwealth selling out unless its a big name team like Green Bay (you know they'd try to stick the Bengals and Dolphins there and call it a can't miss game). Not with the prices the NFL would undoubtedly try to charge. You'd get close but there's no way to fill Commonwealth up without handing out free tickets.

There's a lot of NFL fans here in Canada but they are casual fans. Given the choice between paying hundreds to go to Commonwealth or watching from home, a lot of people are still going to choose the latter.

It was only a few years ago the raptors were almost rebranded to try and spark some interest in the team. The jays were drawing flies, Actually in 2010 you could have fit every attending jays fan inside the ACC. It's so typical of Toronto "forumers" (mainly TFC supporters) to take recent attendance success and disguise it as the norm. When only a half decade ago things weren't so great. Today Toronto sports teams are winners and well supported because of that. Lets wait a few years and see how the market sustains this gate success.

Edmonton may not have 3 of 4 major sports teams but they continue to lead the CFL in attendance and sold out rexall with the worst team in hockey for over a decade and now Oilers fans pay "leaf like" ticket prices to watch a mediocre team with a bright future. The Oil kings also outdraw the marlies So if if you're looking at it on a pound to pound basis Edmonton is right up there with Toronto and actually out draw them in 2 areas.

Come to think of it..So does Winnipeg and Calgary

To be fair the Raptors have done pretty consistently well at the gate. Almost always in the top 10 in NBA attendance even when the team wasn't good.

I don't know if it's still the case, but other than for old grandfathered accounts, there used to be a stipulation that if you wanted to buy Leafs season tickets, you had to buy Raptors as well. This would have inflated Raptors attendance back when they weren't as popular as they are today.

3 of 4 *American* sports leagues. The only way Toronto doesn't embarrass itself any discussion relating to sports cities is to pretend that Canadian sports don't exist.

3 out of 4 American pro leagues puts you up with lofty locales like Cleveland.

I don't have any relationship with Edmonton but it's widely known in sports organization circles that it's the best city in Canada for supporting sporting events: national team games in various sports, international events like Commonwealth and Universiade, national championships in any sports imaginable, and of course pro sports.

Edmonton has the best spectator sports culture in the country.
