The remaining eastern end of the old strip centre has been demolished; Monaghan had been using it for their sales centre. I understand the developers wanted 50% of the condo units pre-sold before they would commit to building the second tower. Does anyone know if they have committed to the 2nd tower yet? Or perhaps they are simply finishing the podium at this point?

No sure if they have they pre-sales or not, but my understanding is they are going to keep going. It only makes sense given that they have all the gear there now.

It won't win any design awards. It is inoffensive but bland, the latest victim of Halifax red-brick disease.

The material being used for the exterior facade for this project is a high-end Spanish porcelain ventilated facade system. This with a natural finish. The material is unalterable. Utilizing an aluminum structure with stainless steel fasteners. Please wait before passing judgement on this one!!!! Even if brick is being used. There are some other interesting things coming on this project which will take your eye away from the brick.

Will the second tower be visible when you're driving towards the mall at the end of the 102? Or will be it be blocked by the first tower?

I hadn't heard of this cladding before. I did a quick Google search and came up with this link (among others) - http://www.apavisa.com/en/archconcept-arquitectura-sin-limites-2/ . This certainly seems like an expensive material.

I actually like red brick also. It seems like the owners of this development didn't go cheap on the cladding.

No it's ceramic all the way through and the same colour all the way through. It's pretty tough stuff. This was also used at The Boss Plaza. It's looks great. Nice material. Much nicer than those tacky faux stone panels that were in vogue awhile ago.

I'm really loving those panels on every building I've seen them used. They actually feel like the building is being clad in stone, and their smaller panel dimensions give a finer-grained texture to the building. I wish the Alexander was using them.

I do really like the panels on The Pearl and I agree, they would look really good on the Alexander. My one issue with Monaghan is just the colour and thin strip pattern makes it look a bit like vinyl siding. Granted I can only go from pictures as its hard to get up close to at this point in time.
