I don't know why people feel like they can adequately gauge my overall personality & mental well-being based solely upon on forum replies on an exceedingly narrow set of topics. Clearly I'm just a bitter old husk of a person; angry, bitter & jaded against everyone & everything, despite me only coming here to comment on a very narrow range of issues that I feel get often misrepresented & distorted thanks to the hive mind that dominates discussions here & on C2E.

While I don't go by my given name on the forums it takes only the most cursory & casual of searches to link my various online manifestations together & back to me. Most people who've been around long enough to form an opinion of me have been exposed to this, along with other information like where I work, where I live, what I drive, my hobbies, what my dietary restrictions & other minutiae. I'm hardly hiding behind a pseudonym or trying to remain anonymous. This is why I just laugh when people attempt to "gotcha" me by trying to out me or otherwise expose information about me that I was never hiding in the first place. Hell, I submitted a correction to Global about their typo in their paraphrasing/editing of my "mean tweet" to Don Iveson that featured so prominently in a couple of the news stories about his fundraising comedy show. Clearly, I'm not one to shy away from what I've said or who I've said it to, online or otherwise.

To put it plainly: I'm hardly a dour, surly curmudgeon. I've had one of the best years of my life in 2016 & this one is looking to knock last year out of the park. My personal, professional & family lives have never been so in sync & on such an upward trend. I remain literally more invested in Edmonton than the vast majority of forum posters & continue to strive to make my city a better place for everyone as best I can, including standing up to & disagreeing with the unfounded or misguided rhetoric of people as passionate as I am.

(And ue, when admonishing other people for a "disrespectful tone" at least try to put a couple of sentences distance between the admonishment & your own disrespect/insults. Might help you come off as less of a tone-deaf hypocrite.)

This forum requires an intervention. Here is an emergency Ice district construction photo to help calm everyone down

I keep reading the same vitriol over and over again like a broken record. It is sucking the life out of this forum.

Can the City not clean up the site and then charge the owner for the work via property taxes? I don't think they can unless the site is deemed a safety hazard to the public. Regardless, something doesn't seem right. As an entrepreneur myself I don't understand the logic in owning a piece of property that doesn't generate any revenue and still continue to pay property taxes, fence rentals, etc.

It's like holding the city hostage for a ransom.

Amazing how many people I saw/overheard last night at the Oilers game talking about Ice District and Downtown development as a whole. People were in awe of the construction with many folks taking photos from the second level. I introduced myself and chatted with a bunch of them.

Great to see/hear.

Your dislike for Katz is unhealthy. Every 2nd post of yours is related to Rogers. It's over, move on.

Another post about my health based upon my post history.

Seems everyone here is an armchair physician.

It's been under construction for over two years. Are these people who don't go downtown much?

I think the visual perception has changed tremendously in the last month though. Both Stantec and JW have a prominent feeling while walking down 104th and the amount of foot traffic going through CoE tower adds a lot to the atmosphere. I work right around there and have been around everyday of the Ice Districts construction, the area has a different feel to it for sure over the past little while. Feels big city all of a sudden.

Agreed. What was once a giant hole in the ground is now a pair towers rapidly moving up and gaining prominence in the ever changing skyline in that area.

Let's not underestimate the number of people who have rarely been downtown before the new arena opened. I've known quite a few people, especially out-of-towners, who used to limit their Edmonton touchpoints to WEM, SEC, Northlands, RAH and U of A but are now downtown for the arena events.
