Depending on my schedule for tomorrow, should have some updates again. Hopefully, things are moving at 488/One Bloor/Ten York/Massey.

Thanks for Kudos!

Is that sun I see?

Harbour Plaza is a true Jekyll and Hyde. I don't care for it in this light and from this position.

I find it kind of boring, but at least it won't offend anyone.

Its starting to grow on me.

Looks somewhat heroic, standing between those two highway ramps like it does.

That tower has a MASSIVE footprint! That tower is going to be transforming for the Edmonton skyline. Toronto's skyline is getting bigger, but it hasn't really changed, at least not the way this tower will change the skyline. Partly due to CN Tower, perhaps?

For all the condos that go up here it would be nice to get a couple big office towers in the mix. The trio of Union Station towers is probably our best shot. Bay Park likely #1.

Yea, I've been hyped (Not really but I want to be) for a new major office tower in the core. Like major as in one of the main ones in the CBD area and not something quite like the EY tower, which is a bit too small in floorplate and location and overall height to really be that major IMO. Idk, Baypark would be a really thing to watch rise, being right on the edge of the railway and all.

Being 100m taller than anything else (other than the JW Marriott going up beside it at 191m) will certainly have a wee impact.

I wish they had done something a little bolder and less soft for the glass segments between the balconies. It has such potential to be edgy and avant guard but manages to look staid and conservative. I know not everything can be like Aqua in Chicago (nor should it try) but this has none of the joy or life of that project. I love the white glass but still find the waves... boring.

Edit: On another note I was wondering for that type of specialized glass on the balconies if they would keep spares on hand to replace the odd ones that might need replacement should they be damaged or broken? Or would they still be able to get matching replacement pieces a decade or two down the line?

/\ I find that it looks nice when up-close looking up, but strangely drab for afar.

Every shot of Stantec usually has the arena in it. I find the arena much more interesting and as a Calgarian I am envious of it. The Stantec tower is great for height and the new version is a definite improvement but overall it doesn't do much for me. I do really like the adjacent hotel and public plaza though.

^He doesn't like Stantec.

I would probably go the other way. I don't care for the urban form, the cladding, or the concept design of the arena. Swoops are a fad that will age really badly. Stantec still has potential to be a quality build despite not being very adventurous.

We'll see how the materials turn out. The vertical strips going up the side could look pretty cool. I still have a feeling it will look weird from certain angles with the office portion though. As for the arena, sure it's a fad, but I think it's nicely done and will age well as such. The outside screen is really cool too.
