It always felt like you were trying to have a coffee in the middle of a retail store. People would be looking for the price tag on the chair you were sitting on! Now it's just their bedroom/linen store. I never realize the same conglomerate owned West Elm, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. They've got a lock on that strip.

Just waiting to get confirmation before we disclose --

Update -- we'll let MUJI go into further details on the exact location of the Robson Street store.

Wow it's about time. Happy to see they waited and got the space they wanted rather than jumping at something substandard.

I've also heard these won't be their only two stores in the metro.

10,000 sqft seems quite small for a flagship Muji location based on what I have seen in living in Japan, I just cannot imagine the amount of product they have in a relatively small space. Can anyone say how the product selection is in Canada, and the US, compared to their Japanese stores?

10,000 sq ft is about the size of Hollister at Pacific Centre, 8,000 sq ft is about the size of Express at Pacific Centre.

Can't help ya out on the Metrotown comparisons though

The American Eagle space is 7000 sq ft.. add in the upstairs space.. easily get to 10k.

i went to muji stores in new york and a few in london. I found the US stores had more selection, they had a lot more clothing which i didn't notice as much as in London.

heres muji in toronto - it has much darker look to it, almost a more upscale look for what is a basck to basics brand

So my guess is it's the old American eagle store. If this is true this place has been empty for like approx 3 years? Why did they wait this long then? Of course it could be another location so who kniws

I was at Lougheed TC today, the whole west side of the upper mall between walmart and hudsons bay is empty, with only steve nash and GNC, carters is moving downstairs soon. I wonder whats going on with that section, if they wanted it to go empty or no one wants to move in.

I also noticed, it was busy but not the stores, wherever people could sit was full, the starbucks seating was packed, the little lounge was full, i counted 3 people with laptops using the space and numerous others just hanging out in there. The indoor playground apparatus added in front of the bay ground level was really busy. Seems like more of a hang out place then a shopping one.

metrotown

noticed today that garage will be coming to Metrotown. The old Aritzia temp has a store closing sale so the new cru could be 3 floors high with a fairly large footprint.

Was it well known that Saks off 5th and Chipotle are coming to Park Royal? Well either way I just found out and thought I'd share.

Muji blows.... the one in Melbourne isn't busy at all and everything is beyond expensive versus the same stuff you can get elsewhere.

If it goes into the AE spot its gonna tank hard.
