Just got back from Vancouver. There is this faux historic "village" outlet mall thing on the way to the airport from Burnaby. Anyone know what it's called or have pics?

Ah yes, found that abomination by the Vancouver airport...

The best part is the blank concrete walls of the backside facing the bridge to the airport.

Haha naw right across the street the old city hall and where 7/11 was when I was a kid has it beat! Part of the problem out here is we used to have a bylaw in place where buildings couldn't be taller than the water tower

Not sure if that is still in effect or not but man do I wish downtown here would have been revamped during the boom years. All we need are 10 storey buildings here and I'd be happy!

Yep McAruthur Glen's mall is pretty bizarre. The company (http://www.mcarthurglen.com/en/) is out of the UK so I guess the faux historical fits in a bit better out there?

The blank walls are easily explained though, they are left that way because they are starting phase 2 right now which will expand the outlet mall towards the Arthur Liang Bridge.

🞵🞵🞵🞵 like this just baffles me. I know the colour scheme is what is most noticeable but what about the first floor front patio? What's the point? To enjoy the view of a parked car?

Man, I'd love to be living in that house next to the Airdrie water tower.

My home town has something similar, but they were classy and put it on a hill away from everyone.

Would that be Okotoks? Yeah a lot of those houses in the general vicinity have been being bought up and torn down for more commercial lately although that trend has slowed. Right next to it we have a fairly large daycare and an A&W on the other side. Still some houses directly across the street but that's it.

I was recently in Victoria and while it's a very nice city, Saanich is another story. They recently built an open air mall at the confluence of highways 1 and 7 to try to usurp Downtown Victoria. I got a little chilled after walking around the city all day and thought I'd warm up in this new mall, only to find a fake-🞵🞵🞵 main street built inside a parking garage with a suburban power center on the roof.

Just to be clear, that is absolutely not me in this photo sphere. If I was going to tie a purse to my neck I'd get one way less tacky.
