it was less "harper pulling support" as it was the submission that was put forward not earning sufficient support. harper took the high road by not publicly putting the responsibility where it belonged and he accepted the fallout he must have known that would entail.

Oh well, but it will be great if Edmonton did host. It coincide with Canada's 150. For me. The best location would be kinsmen+rossdale, then they can put skytrain to fort edmonton and valley zoo.

About the Program
The City is developing a program for reporting and disclosure of large building energy consumption. It is aimed at large commercial, light industrial, municipal, institutional, mixed-use, and multi-unit residential buildings. The goal is to collect information on large building energy performance and provide it to interested stakeholders. This program improves energy efficiency because benchmarking provides building owners and managers with an easy-to-understand measure of their building’s performance and allows them to see where they stand compared to similar buildings. This information can inform changes to building operation that can result in significant energy savings.

I'm curious to see what metrics are involved. We'll be participating for sure, I hope the city got some advice on how to do this properly, as I found when benchmarking my previous towers across a portfolio revealed some interesting results that would not have been apparent had we not gone through a normalization process. That won't be as important here initially as they're only comparing buildings within the region, but for true data analysis they need to poll other buildings in other cities in different climates as well and normalize the results to get a clearer picture of where buildings in Edmonton stand compared to the rest of the country

January 19, 2017

You are invited to a Public Open House to discuss a proposed rezoning Downtown at 10305 and 10321 - 106 Street NW, known as North Tower.

Date: Wednesday, January 25, 2017
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Drop-in, no scheduled presentation)
Location: Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel - Glenora Room, 10155 - 105 Street NW

The proposed rezoning would accommodate a primarily residential tower. The proposed change in zoning is from the Urban Warehouse Zone (UW) to a Site Specific Development Control Provision(DC2) . The proposed DC2 Provision would accommodate a tower with the following features:

126 metres in height (approximately 40 storeys);
Up to 320 dwellings;
Floor area ratio of 11.0;
Limited commercial uses (retail stores, restaurants, etc. at ground level);
Underground parking.
The application also proposes to amend maps within the Downtown Special Area of the Edmonton Zoning Bylaw. The changes to the Downtown Special Area maps would update the maximum height and floor area ratio to allow the proposed development.

The City is looking for your input on the proposed rezoning.
