Thanks for the pics mcminsen. The cladding going on over the old building looks terrible, in my opinion. Perhaps I will have a different opinion when it is complete but, as it is right now it looks just awful.

The fact that you can see through the glass and all the elements behind it (brackets, fins etc) are still visible and able to contrast with the random seafoam stripes does not really create a good aethstetic.

It's totally hideous, but it's in keeping with the rest of the complex. It's clear that the architect's intent was to great an extremely eclectic, cluttered appearance for each of the buildings.

That's true! But when the whole thing is completed, maybe it will seem more homogenous.

Yeah!! CLuttered; awkward and the boxy tower all make for a jarring experience. Very disappointing, IMO

Green wall, and the oddest part of all is that the residential strata has to pay for its upkeep, instead of the commercial building.

The green wall overhangs the alley quite a bit
- presumably they got a statutory right-of-way from the City to encroach on the alley?

WRT the glass pattern on Seymour Street - why the shift in patter part-way up?
It would make sense if it were randomized, but having 5 panels, then a change seems odd.

The underlighted sidewalk has condensation in places.

Confirmation that all canopies on the existing Telus block building are in
compliance with the Building By-law for overhead clearance, drainage
and demountability: where they do not comply make arrangements for
the extension or replacement of the existing canopy encroachment
agreement on title. (Easement & Indemnity Agreement BK257666,
Statutory Right-of-Way BK257667).
(i) Note: The existing Telus Building (which is to remain) has a
secondary glass curtain-wall (deemed a “Ventilation Cavity”)
which encroaches onto Seymour and Robson Streets. This façade
change was approved by Council in 1997, and is covered by
Easement & Indemnity Agreement BT390743 and Statutory Rightof-Way
BT390744).
(ii) Note: The application indicates a “green wall” to be attached to
the existing building encroachments. Note: The existing Telus
Building has exterior cladding encroaching into the lane,
(Easement & Indemnity Agreement G29739). The proposed
greenwall, presumed to be attached to this encroaching
cladding, must not be mounted lower than 17 feet above the
lane grade. At permit stage arrangements for the
encroachments of the proposed greenwall will be required.

Those alcoves seem to have been fully punched through for windows (though unevenly spaced).
The bolted-on cement-board (whatever it is called) must be for extra support.

I believe that Amazon occupies 4 floors: 14, 15, 16, and 17. Telus I believe has the top floor and nearly 10 lower down (lower than 14).

Are you sure about that?

While Telus occupies nine floors in the building, Amazon has eight floors, Bull Housser has 2 1/2 and Capstone Mining has one floor.

Obviously not, that's why I said "believe". I wasn't sure where Amazon's floors started. Amazon is on 17 though, so not sure how accurate that report is.

Those articles are also pretty old so they might have swapped floors.

I think Accenture is on the 20th (maybe they have some shared space with the law firm)
