That pretty damn extreme. Must be mixed on site.

That should keep some from asking whether frozen ground can be excavated too.

Various additives are included at those temps to control curing time, moisture, etc. to ensure spec. It is par for the course to pour at temps down to about -25C.

Happens all winter long here in Winnipeg too. Construction has learned to adapt to extreme cold temps.

Still have my doubts its premixed offsite and trucked in. That's a little too cold from my understanding. Heated, uninsulated, metal storage container afterall. The outside temp may be -25 but, it's a lot warmer inside the heated tarped space where the work is done. That isn't just the concrete either. It's also about the workers.

The batch plant is not on site but about 15-20 min drive on average. the tech for extreme weather construction has been around for years. If we were to stop because it was to cold it would more than double the time for construction.

I love the tower portion of Brookfield place but hate what they did with the crown.

Really wish it would have been a continuation of the tower glass rather than clear. Kills the symmetry of the building IMO.

I didn't know they had already formed the fancy curves on Massey Tower. I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and didn't even see that. These guys are moving fast, maybe some better weather is helping.

Those poor trees. Eventually a renovation/upgrade of the public realm on University Avenue will be needed. A far more generous green buffer between the sidewalk and road, silver cells up the length, decent paving, buried wiring, and attractive lamp posts would do wonders for the pedestrian experience.

90% of the public realm downtown needs similar improvements. That concrete is brutal.
