The first comment (guy from Boston) comes off as classic anti-Vancouver trolling rhetoric. He would probably love the tower if it were in Boston.

Trump tower? I expect that like that building, this and Vancouver House, designed by renowned architects, will turn out pretty close to the renders.

1245 Harwood and the MNP tower turned out quite similar to the original renders as well

Makes sense in the long run with Vancouver's climate. Wonder what it will be made out of then.

Wood is exactly what thrives in here, so I don't really see why they could not do it. Too bad, as seeing more wood in structures would be nice.

It thrives, but in a very active cycle.

Lumber, even treated, is returned to earth in a surprisingly short time.

You haven't owned a home with exposed wood have you?

It's incredible how quickly soffits, even treated lumber with several coats of primer+paint, starts to decompose in Vancouver weather.

The opaque panels on the tower are supposed to be perforated and solid aluminum panels
(so no seafoam substitution expected there, but the underlying glass could be "typical" seafoam).
I would hope that the architects are smart enough to place the aluminum panels so no seafoam spandrel is used.

I thought Nelson_on_the_Park had been definitively nixed. Apparently not.
But agreed, this is the type of daring architecture Vancouver needs. Vancouver house, is implied as being in the same or similar genre. Agreed.
But one building I'm slathering for is that First Baptist tower. Hoooeee

Come to think of it - this is probably a good indication of what the perforated aluminum screening will look like - plus some "wooden" accents.
