I was speaking of 8th Avenue. The amount of traffic generated by Whole Foods at all hours (what, their customers don't all walk, skate or ride?), and the nearby medical office buildings during the day, is crazy on that small, constricted road.

The dance in and out of the Crossroads parkade entrance is about to become a slam dance.

Wow, that's an unexpectedly significant project for that site (and wholly appropriate for a major TOD/arterial crossroads district).

MCM (Musson Cattell Mackey) are some of the most consistent architects in the city for understated-but-confident high-quality buildings.

Anyway, I'm excited to see this project, and the area, continue to infill and improve. It's just a matter of time, I suspect, until the former McDonald's site (one of the few in the city ever to have closed), now BC Liquor Store, redevelops. That one has some definite potential and a rather significant grade with which to play.

I've moved to Kelowna, by the way, so I'm going to soon be one of those people who has a frozen image in their mind of how an area looks and feels and then comments with surprise when I realize that it's changed in my absence. Not bad at all, something different, but even nicer if it's double the height. It should be more prominent, especially since there are quite a few older ugly buildings in that hood that are way taller.

i just moved back after officially moving away in 2013 and omg its crazy how different things are. I've vistited a couple times a year since moving but its like a new city everytime. Enjoy Kelowna. My vancouver best friend born and raised just moved to somewhere near osoyoos, he's going through a little culture shock i think, he's only known vancouver.

That side of Cambie has the really narrow block, so I doubt you'll see significant development. Add to that the fractured ownership - as each parcel seems to have been developed as a unique retail space on it's own.

Robinson Lighting could be bigger, but probably similar in scale to the stepped building north of the Best Buy.

It would have been nice (and good for traffic on 8th) if they had bought the McDonald's / Liquor store site and consolidated it
and closed the alley (making an L-shaped alley)

That Robinson lighting building really needs to go, it's a dead spot. I wonder how much longer is left on the lease.

My summer internship office at the City was in that chunk beside that part juts out on the top floor, at the northernmost part of the building. I was, by far, the most junior person in the building and I had, arguably, the best view in the city. Strange to see it half-demolished.

So is the podium being left so that a future building will be built on top of it? Is there any word on when/what will go there in its place? I seem to remember talk of a "City Hall Campus" in the area.

Hmm, seems short given that it's across from a 44 storey tower, but the FSR is ok.

The parking seems a bit excessive too, given its TOD location and limited number of units.

I do like the unit mix though with more than half the units being 2 bed or more and actual 2 bedrooms with almost all of them over 1,000 sf. None of this 785 sf 2 bed nonsense.
