The section between spring and w. Peach tree for 15th is being done with AMLI arts center by gdot I thought.

Star Metals office building has construction fencing up with signs showing the project today when I passed by.

Also West Midtown is starting to sort of feel like Capitol Hill in Seattle to me, just needs more density and super blocks to be broken up more. Too bad there are SFH between midtown and west midtown so it won't likely ever be continuously urban like Seattle

That's the one thing that would be incredible and if they can figure out, how to connect these areas, at least in some aspect. It's clearly closing in.

I'm assuming the grade connection to Williams would be below the future bridge level of 15th street - a la how the bridge is in the middle of Lenox Road to access Phipps/Monarch Plaza and Lenox road passes underneath on toward Peachtree.

Home Park residents are fighting off developments in their neighborhood. Didn't they successfully kill off that one apartment project on 14th that would have brought some much needed density and retail to the street?

I honestly don't see how they can ever have a bridge over the connector at 15th street, since the 17th street on ramp is gaining elevation above Williams at around that spot.

AMLI doesn't own the 15th street ROW nor is AMLI responsible for paying for the extension. They worked out a deal to use the ROW for construction staging and the agreement is that GDOT/Midtown Alliance would be the ones getting the 15th street extension done.

The bridge would have to start ascending from Spring Street not Williams Street in order to get over the access roads/off-ramps and cross over the Connector.

I could see the 15th Street connecting on-grade to Williams Street on either side of the bridge abutment.

I very seriously doubt there will ever be an interstate bridge at 15th street-- Its too close to the existing bridge at 14th to warrant the cost and provides very little utility or connectivity aside from what is already there.

The funds could be better used for improving W. Peachtree/Spring St./Williams St.

I thought it was supposed to be an HOV/HOT access point. That's why they left the gap in between the northbound and southbound Connector lanes.

I believe plans for the 15th St bridge will also include on/off-ramps for the HOV lanes which may or may not be tolled. This would allow for easier access to Art Center Station for regional commuter buses.

HOT into the city from 75 would be awesome, but that's not on the table

Exactly what 'environmental studies' need to be done on a two block stetch of dirt that would take two years?! Ridiculous. No wonder it takes so long to get anything done.

If the thinking does in fact include a flyover bridge with the 15th St. extension providing a long-planned Midtown connection to the I-75 HOV/BRT stub, then you're looking at minimum a couple years for design and funding. I'm sure the Braves would love that. Maybe they should pay for it.

A 15th Street bridge would be dumb. A bridge to what, the burgeoning job center that is Home Park?

The money would be better spent in creating direct access to the connector from northern Midtown and creating a new road connection to Buckhead to provide relief to Peachtree and Piedmont.
