They're running linear RGB fixtures between windows.

Time to get creative and have those leasing guys finally hustle.

Well, we leased about 2000 sq feet dt for our companies expansion into the Edmonton market. Good time to sign a lease and purchase office furniture.

2nd The Rec Room opening in Edmonton

Edmonton, Alberta / 630 CHED - Edmonton Breaking News, Traffic, Weather and Sports Radio Station
Karen Bartko
Posted: January 05, 2017

After massive success in South Edmonton Common, Cineplex has announced a second location for The Rec Room in Edmonton.

“The launch of The Rec Room at South Edmonton Common has truly surpassed our expectations and we love the idea that with our West Edmonton Mall location we’ll have a strong foothold in the Edmonton community,” Ellis Jacob, President and CEO at Cineplex, said.

The company opened its two-level, 60,000 square foot flagship location in south Edmonton in fall 2016, and at the time was in the process of opening smaller but similar entertainment venues in Calgary and Toronto.

On Thursday, Cineplex announced the second Edmonton venue and a location in London, Ont., as well.

“With so much to offer both our local guests and tourists, The Rec Room will be right at home at the most comprehensive retail, hospitality and entertainment complex in the world,” West Edmonton Mall CEO David Ghermezian said.

The facility promotes itself as Canada’s premier “eats & entertainment” destination, bringing together dining, games, and live entertainment all under one roof. There is a sports bar and three eateries: a full sit-down restaurant, a wood-fired pizzeria, and a poutine and doughnut shop.

In addition to a large arcade designed by a former Playdium employee, the south Edmonton location also has bowling, ax throwing, ping pong, billiards, a race car simulator and a virtual reality experience.

The southside venue is fully licensed and open until 2 a.m. each weekend, offering adults an alternative to the bar scene.

Cineplex said the WEM location will have all the same features as the South Common location.

You mean separate from the previously announced one going in where the Greyhound used to be?

It's been strongly alluded to. If there's going to be one Downtown, it'll be with their other presence in the area.

Bad move in my opinion. This is just a fad, people will start getting bored of it, these kind of things start to have a "been there done that" mentality to people. Red's and playdium didn't last.

They should have waited at least a year to see how the south side one will continue to do.

I also felt a bit of a sting when Edmonton's mayor very recently (perhaps slightly) gloated about Edmonton's office market being nowhere as bad as Calgary's. Maybe at this very second but it's just a matter of time.

Heh.. Edmonton's leasers have always had to hustle.

Typically we trail Calgary a few years in most things.. sure hope this isn't one of them

Calgary 2017 property assessments plunge $6 billion year-over-year

Calgary’s residential and non-residential property assessment base has dropped to $303 billion, according to city assessors — a $6 billion year-over-year decline, largely due to a sky-high downtown office vacancy rate.

One of the large projects out at the airport has started. A large swath of land is fenced off and excavation has begun along 36st to the east of T3.

Ha. Playdium. That's a blast from the past. Home to many end of year wrap up parties for my adam and novice hockey teams.

Speaking of west Ed, a minute or two of neat old food court footage in a documentary called man vs snake on Netflix. If you liked King of Kong....

^^^^^ We knew the vacancy rate would go up. Those owners who are upping their game (hello WSP) will be fine.

Others will either have to lower rents, attract companies from other cities (imagine that!) or convert to other uses (Hello Chancery Hall - CN Tower).

No the retail is along the highway. I was thinking this might be the Grow Op. I can't see retail being in the back service area.
