Downtown IHOP property was finally sold. Unfortunately to Nate Paul / World Class Capital which means nothing will happen there.

That makes for a large swath of land that WCC and Sutton control in that area. Two can't get 'er done developers.

I was always curious to see if the old Texas Furniture store on N. Lamar would ever be developed. Guess that answered my question.

N. Lamar will soon be the next Burnet Rd in terms of redeveloping it's corridor. There is so much empty and rundown spaces especially between Airport Blvd & 183 that can be used for mixed used developments. I'm thinking within 2-5 years from now we will see a transition into what was once old pawn-car lots into 4-6 st. mixed projects.

I would not consider/classify WCCG a "developer." They are an CRE investment firm first and foremost.

Sutton can get things done...just on a much, much, much, much smaller scale than the proposed Waller Park Place and Town Lake Villas site developments.

Plus, it's all zoned TOD so any new build or teardown/rebuild will have to be 2+ stories along with other caveats.

I hope it doesn't end up resembling the northern part of Burnet (south of 183). That section is basically Austin's de-facto self-storage and car dealership district.

That would be great for the area and would give Lamar a whole new atomsphere.

Agree especially that new storage facility next to Atomic Tattoo. It's somewhat of an eyesore but imo still alot better than what was there before.

5th and West as well as the Independent will have massive impact on the skyline from there as well.

The shift West and to the river in the last 10 years has been staggering.

Not to mention Austin Proper and Third and Shoal which will fill in part of that big gap.

^ That's so cool. I hope more things like this are implemented throughout downtown and East Austin (around the Plaza Saltillo, maybe?)...
