Employee at the Salvation Army on Elmwood Drive it would not open until first week of January. He has been working there until his store is ready to open.

Evergreen Plaza on Mountain Road now will have two tenants. The left two units will be a kitchen interiors business and the middle unit will be an accounting & bookkeeping business.

Well that restaurant chain we've chatted about through the summer is opening up in Moncton.

Pannizza will be opening in early 2017 at 30 Wyze Road. Looks to be the same spot that Thaizone is open in, in the Mapleton Centre area.

There will also be a second Moncton location opening up in the Spring as well with the same owner.

Indeed. This image shows that Pannizza will occupy the last vacant CRU in the new retail strip also housing Citi Financial & Thaizone.

Hmmm, isn't Pitaza (or whatever its spelled) doing rather poorly where it is? Hopefully this place will be able to attract a larger crowd.

Having Thaizone right next door might help, but it is always a bit of a risk placing a pizza joint in a retail strip mall in the centre of a commercial development with no real nearby residential neighbourhoods. I always thought this is what did Panago in.

Pizza places are often neighbourhood specific. Without that neighbourhood focus, pizza parlours can get lost in the crowd.........

Frampton is close. Pandago was only close to seniors.

No local stores though.

Happily "The Limited" no longer has any association with Victoria's Secret or Bath & Body Works, so there shouldn't be any local ramifications.

Latest Champlain Place rumour is that West 49 will relocate into the former Mexx (current Ecko Unlimited) space near Sears. Meanwhile, the rumoured family restaurant moving into Champlain Place will occupy the West 49 space off the food court rather than the former Tommy Hilfiger space.

It makes sense to place the new restaurant in proximity to the food court. This is of course an internet rumour that I've come across, so there may be no basis in fact, but it is known that West 49 is relocating in the mall somewhere.......

I don't see a restaurant going to the West49 space. With no possibility of outdoor entrance and windows at all, I don't think this will be happening. In large malls that I've been to, full-service restaurants are usually away from food courts. Time will tell.

Update: after looking at the floor plan there is a possibility of some outdoor frontage and entrance next to the Toys R Us entrance, so I think it could work. I still believe that the area where Tommy was would be a better location for a full-service restaurant, especially for visibility.

The post Christmas shuffle has begun at Champlain Place.

Ecko Unlimited has "store closing" banners up. Meanwhile, West 49 has already vacated their premises with construction sheet rock now being applied to the store façade, implying that a replacement will soon be taking it's place.

Perhaps there is truth to the rumour that West 49 is going to move into the old Ecko location.........

Some interesting retail news from cash strapped Sears as they sell the Craftsman brand to Stanley Black & Decker for 900 million.

Better than Macy's though - 68 of the chains stores are to shutter this year, with another 30 stores on the chopping block over the next 2-3 years. 10,000 employees will be let go.

One of the victims will be the Macy's in Bangor ME.

I don't know why some people are so enthralled with online shopping. It's much better for your community to shop at your friendly local retailers. If you don't shop local, then this is what happens.

You forgot there(I think it's) 128 Kmart branded locations. Sears is really hurting.

and yes Sears owns Kmart for those who don't know.

the last Kmart I was in was 3 or so years ago in NEW EngLand . The shelves were sparse and it appeared the store was having a going out of business sale, though there were no signs stating they were closing. A far cry from the Kmarts' of my youth.

The last time I was in a Kmart was when it was open at the Mapleton Plaza, and they where starting to build there new location where the Superstore is located.

The Pannizza pizza shop will be opening at the Mapleton Centre in March.

Also, there is already a planned second location for the Morton Place development at the corner of Morton & McLaughlin, with the planned opening in May of this year.
