I'm really enjoying this thread..
I've never heard of Mummer's Parade, What's the meaning behind it, is it only in Saint John's? it sort of looks zombie like..

I'm going to add some Saskatoon pics to this thread, they aren't my pics but ones i've seen from other threads or from photographers in the city through out the year, i've included sources below each photo.

Not a lot of activities on this thread recently, so I'll go right ahead and post another Montreal set, because why not?

Thanks for sharing, love Gary Cummins photos on Flickr!

It's a shame that more photographers seem to be moving to Instagram, as you just don't get the same image quality there, but I suppose better copyright control, etc.

Yep, that's winter in Toronto. Thanks for compiling those, HonkeyMoanin.

How could anyone not know where a cool shot like that is? And you call yourself a Montréalais?

I want to know where it is so we can go there on our next visit. Anybody?

I feel shame.

I just Google the name on that sign and it's at Sherbrooke and St Christophe, east of downtown. Apparently the stairs were added in 2014.

Thanks, we'll definitely go there next time we're in the city. Though I'm always amused by how directions in work in Montreal.

The stairs have been redone recently, but they were always there. What's new is the permanent slide.

It's a neat little spot. We don't have much of these stairs surrounded by old rowhouses type of places that you have in Quebec City and St Johns.

That's a great picture. I was snowshoeing on Grouse Mountain yesterday. There was 60km/h wind gusts on top of the mountain but once you got into the trees, it was a pleasant day.

Love the quoted MTL picture. Reminds me of all the little staircase lanes here, the houses are even painted brightly - same basic idea, but MTL's is nicer and stone. I wish we had that meaty feeling too, where you look at that and just know there's city all around you, unlike here, where you know, okay, another half block and I'm in clapboard rowhouses. I think most people can just sense when it's the end, and when it's the beginning. And I wish we had some parts that felt a beginning like that MTL pic.

That memorial is to the son of a former Governor General (of NL, pre-Confed) who drowned saving two young lower-class girls from a nearby river. People back then thought it was a waste and the two girls never had very enjoyable lives after.

The City has implemented a shitload of heritage protection laws, but I think my personal favourite - in terms of how it has translated into the experience of being in the city - is that no home may share the same exterior colour as an attached neighbouring home.

All the colours you can see
Cover the borders of a masterpiece
Time can paint the best of me
Over the unclear eyes of memory
All hands on a grain of sand

Here are some more aerial photos that I thought were interesting. They used to be a rare commodity because before drones you had to use a helicopter shots like this. Now they're common.
