Same. It's the biggest project under the 10 freeway and helps link DTLA to USC. It would also provide a much needed shot in the area which is dominated by surface parking lots. I really think it's one of the projects that can single-handedly transform an immediate area.

Gorgeous sunrise pic. Please take this same shot next year for comparison. The transition from December 2016 to December 2017 will be the most dramatic. A number of the megaprojects will be topping out, or close to it, at this time in SoPa. Oceanwide, Circa, Onni's 50+ & Mack Urban will all be very visible and will connect the USC tower to the main skyline at last.

L.A. does look majestic and beautiful from a distance on a clear winter day. Needs some improvement on the local scale, but improving it is.

I'm excited for the development proposed in City West as well. It's the forgotten neighborhood because it's not quite downtown but not NOT downtown. Hopefully City West will mature in the way South Park is.

Due to the importance of grand central mkt...& to help make up for the ridiculousness of a state commission not allowing angel's flight to reopen unless the owner builds a safety ramp under the trolley even though it managed to survive for over 90 yrs without one....& to improve the area around 4th st.....& to remove the eyesore of the small taco house on Hill st....I'm hoping that the apt tower at 4th & Hill, & also at 4th & broadway, will break ground asap.

As for the USC area....or the southern branch of dtla....the talk is that george lucas will make a decision in the next 2 wks on where his museum will be built....either expo pk in LA or treasure island in SF.

I came across this on a facebook pg....a hint that barry shy's long delayed proj across from the pacific electric bldg on Main st....& which would replace a large parking lot....may be moving forward.....





all the discussions about the inanimate aspects of dtla....where emphasis is placed on design, planning & height of new devlpt....leaves out the human element. Some of what's shown here would have been thought impossible...& was definitely non existent....in dt not too many yrs ago.

It's hard to think of a time in LA's history when there was a big gap between areas like pasadena to the north & samo to the south.

Although the finer details of this design are not yet apparent (at least not in the rendering), the fact that it is yet another Gensler project, thanks to Metropolis, underwhelms me. Would it have not been better to design a more slender tower of a combined 67 to 70 floors and be about 950 to 1000 feet in height. There was a similar hotel design several years ago before the bust I think also on Figueroa. Not only would that be a more visible contribution to the skyline, but it would also give the now under construction Circa some breathing room. As it is in the rendering both the south facing portions of the towers will have no view, and look too cramped. Would the dreaded podium look more massive with just a slender tower--it could. But perhaps a redesign could have it step down or have it fully under the tower itself

Well guys, 2016 is winding down. I must say that while it's been a rather bizarre and unfortunate year in many respects, it's been an auspicious year for DTLA -- probably the best ever in the last 50 years! Here's to a construction-filled 2017!
