Great shot, Brookfield is as boring as I thought it would be from there though. 707-fifth looks better from than angle than I expected!

707 Fifth is very wide from angle. It's about as exciting as Brookfield Place.

The standouts from there are EAP and Bankers Hall IMHO.

EAP and The Bow for me.

I'm just not a big fan of Bankers Hall. The massing is a little too conservative.

That is true more from certain angles, and at the end of the day, it is because the downtown is build in a floodplain, basically at the lowest elevation possible. If you see the core from, for example, the airport, it looks much more stubby than it really is.

The airport is definitely the least flattering angle of the skyline.

From close up, Crescent Heights and Scotsman Hill are nice. From mid-distance I think MaxBell, coming west on 17th Ave SE, SAIT and driving in from the west on Bow Trail are nice. South has a good view, but I can't think of a particular spot where I'd direct people to. You also don't get the detail of the gradually increasing skyline from the south, as instead of hit the wall that is 9th ave.

Yeah airport, and that drive on the QEII coming south, till you make the turn onto Memorial west-bound, is pretty bad - and quite cut-off. Imagine if the core was build on-top of Crescent Heights instead below it! Though I'm certain there would be other negatives that would have resulted, so don't want to question things (other than the floodplain aspect, which is unfortunate).

Basically how Edmonton did it. I'm not sure if there would have been negatives honestly, since we might have got a middle of the city Bow River Provincial Park rather than Fish Creek.

This spot is decent for "mid-distance" I suppose

Closer, there's a couple good spots up Mount Royal - where I believe the pic above was taken from.
[EDIT] Hereish

A couple blocks over on 33rd ave in Parkhill is decent.

Mostly hidden by Suncor.

Edit:

Looked up today and noticed light blue panelling stacked against the side of the crown on the east side of the building. I'll check later today to see if they start installing it.

Any updates on the crown? ProducePrincess spoke of some light blue panelling that could be installed...?
