^The ones up by Angels Knoll need to go asap. Same with that ugly switching station.

There are still quite a few huge parking lots and hundreds of smaller ones. Also as you mentioned, hundreds more underutilized 1-story buildings. This is just within the 5-6 sq mile freeway loop.

If you are talking about the PAC Bell tower built in the sixties, I like it. I think that it makes a funky contribution to the downtown skyline.

Notice how according to the model, the height seems to exceed the 801 Olive bldg. and equal that of Level.

Yeah, if the tower is indeed planned to rise 29 stories, then the proportions in the renderings are way off.

It could be different floor heights. Atlier is 352' and Level is 375' and CIM is at 330' but all 3 have the same floor count. I'm 100 percent sure Atlier is taller though. From all the photos i've seen it definitely appears taller than Level.

The second tower for 1212 Flower is only 31 floors but it's height is at 421 beating all the towers above whereas Mack Urban and Circa have 37 and 36 floors and are at 425 and 420 respectively.

If that tower is over 350' for a 29 story, i'm cheering. In fact, Apex II is only 28 stories and will be 312' so it's not crazy to think they just have tall floors.

I forsee the residents of this tower someday being a NIMBY problem for when someone wants to develop the lot fronting 9th. If a tower is centered on the lot, it could have a shadow impact blocking the sun from the pool and residents could complain about losing their view Eastern Columbia style. Of course they'd lose and the fact that this tower will be rental and not condo also lessens this probability. Still amazing design, this block will be so cool someday.

I my original post "why not a 100 story in L.A.?" I didn't mean an office building, but a mixed use--hotel/condos/apts/retail/and some office floors. I think a 90 or 100 story mixed use would fit nicely on top of Bunker Hill, or facing Pershing Square, or south Figueroa. Tower(s) probably in the 1100-1300 foot range, maybe higher if you put a spire on top. Chicago city pop. about 2.5 million; L.A. 4 million. L.A. is ready to take skyline to the next level. 40 years ago the thought of L.A. having two 70+ story buildings and a subway/rail system would have seemed far fetched. L.A. will have one or more 80/90/100+ story towers--only a question of when. Hopefully soon.

Time for L.A. Chinatown/Union Station area to start going seriously up

Tremendous demand for apartments/condos. A forest of 30-50 story towers needed.

Those towers will connect Downtown to South Park and fill the last gap.

Another Chinese developer is behind that one.. Shenlong Group.

At this point there really shouldn't be any more buildings being proposed in downtown with more than 1 parking space per residential unit. City Planning needs to step up their game.
