That's a nice new rendering from the article. If council has any backbone, it will become quite the landmark (height-wise, at least) sitting atop high ground like that. A decisive turning point for the area:

The embrace of the TOD concept at Burquitlam Station (and in other parts of the Evergreen Line) is quite astonishing to me in comparison to the lack of such until recently on the rest of the Millenium Line.

The "nimbyism" mentioned fairly frequently on SSP is sometimes irritating (like the naysayers to the Broadway Line), but also sometimes not unjustified.
Imagine having lived right around where this tower, and others are going up. Imagine you've lived there 10 or 20 years, perhaps longer.
You're used to the feel of the neighbourhood, and while these buildings may be better that living right next to a giant meat-reducing factory, they're still jarring for the residents.
Sunlight blocked, yes, but also, if people liked neighbourhood fences, treed back yards or corners, and manageable road traffic, all of this is going to be a bit of a jolt, not unjustifiably, IMO.

To the nimbies: the upside to all those inconveniences is increase in property value, and added conveniences. The SFHs to this Clark/Como Lake development are far enough away be not directly affected, yet they still reap the multiple conveniences. Trust me, when it comes time to sell , all those SFHs close to TODs sell much faster and higher value. Burtqutlam was a sleepy suburb not particularly sought after until now. Many of those SFHs in Brentwood park north of Amazing Brentwood now have basement suites for rental and not worry about finding renters.

That looks horrible. If they had gone with dark spandrel it could have been salvageable.

Some updates from the Bridgeport area of Richmond taken earlier today.

Wall Centre

International Trade Centre

Not sure the names of these next projects. There is a lot going on in Richmond that completely flies under the radar.

[Richmond] Pinnacle Park Place | 16-towers | 5-15 fl | proposed

and the Polygon-Avanti development in the background of photo #3 (no thread for it; i also think)

Thanks for the updates. Looks like Concord's public park is coming together. We'll be up there tomorrow.

Pile driving has started for ViewStar in Richmond. This is a large development by Chinese developer Yuanheng. The Wall Centre towers won't be so alone in the near future.

Thanks!

I think that's the first time the siteplan has been posted.
Hard to tell how much retail there is, but it looks like there are full block podiums.

This could be the project on the orphan block that Yuenheng does not own:

Some photos that I took of Richmond's growing skyline; Dec. 11, 2016.

Demolition of old strip-malls was recentley finished on this lot on No. 3 road, which is across the street from Lansdowne station

River green 2 I'm pretty sure

Sorry about the glitch, my phone does this... I haven't seen any discussion about these condos, but they are part of a development called "Riva." The road that they are on is the start of a new 4-lane "River Rd," which will go all the way to Cambie Rd.

The future road plan in this area: http://www.richmond.ca/__shared/assets/City_Centre_-_Future_Road_Network_near_River_Road39877.pdf

River park place 1

This development is sandwiched between Gilbert, Lansdowne, Elmbridge, and Hollybridge. It's called "Cadence" and it's by a company called Cressey.

Tempo by Amacon

This photo shows Tempo as well as Riva phase 1

With all of these towers going up in the area, as well as the ones near Capstan Rd. and Landowne mall, I really think that we need a Richmond Updates thread. I'd be happy to start that and make an overview post of all of the projects if need-be!

EDIT: Is there a fast way of shrinking the resolution of photos, without having to edit each one in paint.net?
