love the new version of the glenora towers, though I'm wondering what it will look like with LRT running in front? There doesn't seem to be any provisions for LRT access from site to station - there should be a station right in front on Stony Plain road no?

The ROW is where the angled parking is as that is temporary.

Thank god that the newest proposal for Glenora looks lot better than those ripoffs of some Mexican resort.

Now I hope to God that this newest proposal actually gets built.

steel might be faster in terms of erecting the structure but the curtainwall crews can't usually keep up so by the time the building is closed in the schedules are usually pretty close.

steel has a much harder time incorporating cantilevers than concrete so those balconies might not work as shown.

concrete usually provides better sound isolation and less "bounce" to the structure which probably translates into better marketability and higher pricing.

cost is usually pretty close when you start to factor in the added costs of fire protection for the steel and higher costs for all of the vertical elements from curtainwall to elevators and piping resulting from the added floor to floor height needed to make up for the additional depth of steel construction vs concrete.

I guess one other difference is transportation of steel to the site and possible delays whereas concrete is readily available.

It would be. It's shown in their DC2 rezoning as a temporary parking in place of where the LRT ROW is.

The only thing that sorta sucks about the new Glenora development is less tower development. Otherwise, it's a cleaner, less offensive, albeit fairly generic option over the previous Glenora Skyline.
