It's in a separate building just over from that medical imaging office. There's two flat roofed buildings. One is a church, the second one behind it is Vulcan Video. I only noticed that it was there when I drove down the side street by the Jack in the box. It's not very visible if your driving down the access road. Hopefully they will have a sign by the street.

Can anyone tell me what is going on with these apartments on Palmer near the dell south campus? They have been under construction forever it seems and they stopped many months ago in the middle of building them. They look like they were going to be pretty modern when done.

Thanks. I used to love that place as a kid. My grandma would drive me over there and let me go buy coins.

The place was called Austex Coins. It was run by a man named Mike McCoy and his father. I remember he used to walk around the shop with a 🞵🞵🞵 on his hip. My dad would take my brother and me there. I don't think they're there anymore.

I did a google search for it and stumbled onto an old thread of ours from 2012 called "Old Austin Malls and Shopping Centers." Nice trip down memory lane we had going there.

The thread actually started in 2009, but the AusTex Coins discussion was in 2012.

I don't recall anything about this being posted yet. A site plan was filed today for a new Aloft hotel at what appears to be the SW corner of the I-35 and Ben White interchange. There's a La Quinta motel and a former car dealership at that location. I believe the dealership was abandoned when one of the flyovers was built over the site.

Yes! I hope it's tall. I've been waiting for that corner to get some life again. There's still an old IHOP building and an old Furr's building that need to be redeveloped.

This is all just a few short blocks from the St. Elmo development.

I don't know what the current zoning allows, but there should be no height limits IMO at that interchange (or any major highway interchange for that matter) because it's not a residential neighborhood full of NIMBYs who have nightmares about tall buildings.

I think Aloft would fit in well on South Lamar or South Congress. Not sure why they haven't tried in one of those corridors instead of these three for 2019 that I hadn't yet heard of.

I know one is an "airport" hotel, but these two locations are still pretty darn close together. I wonder if that means neither of them will be very big...

The developer went bankrupt. Hope someone else takes over this project. Looks like a nice development for it to go to waste.
