(Oops! I see this was discussed a few years back. Anyway... check it out. The film is well worth watching.)

I don't recall reading about that here, I'd always assumed it was shot in San Francisco! Gloria Grahame running around the hills in her high-heels is a highlight! The film is quite fascinating. The first time I saw it was in a revival house. The Oscars it was nominated for:
1952 (25th)
ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE -- Jack Palance {"Lester Blaine"}
ACTRESS -- Joan Crawford {"Myra Hudson"}
CINEMATOGRAPHY (Black-and-White) -- Charles B. Lang, Jr.
COSTUME DESIGN (Black-and-White) -- Sheila O'Brien
Gloria Grahame was in several films that year, Sudden Fear, Macao, The Greatest Show on Earth and she won Supporting Actress for The Bad and the Beautiful. One of my favorites of hers is the L.A. set noir "In a Lonely Place."
