We don't know what happened. These things can happen in tunnels too.

Tonight was a trifecta of issues. Person hit on 7th ave, then switching failure by Sunnyside and finally a medical emergency at Lions park if we go by what was reported on Twitter. My foster daughter left school at 4pm and still isn't home (after taking a pit stop along the way as waiting at for the next train was taking too long), and its usually a 60 minute trip.

According to the media, the person was intentionally hanging from the train mirror and fell under the train. Definitely not anything grade separation could fix - you can't fix stupid.

I would guess this is the "More funding for Calgary transit projects will be announced in the coming weeks"

"More than half of the funds will go towards setting the stage for city's Green Line LRT expansion."

Nice thanks for posting. This is the most important Calgary Transit project right now outside of the Greenline.

I know the video is just a representation, but it appears that running in mixed-traffic will be the norm (i.e. therefore not true BRT). Limited stops and high-frequency headways will still be a big improvement though.

I did notice one person boarding through the back door. All-door boarding is such a small detail, but makes the system truly a game-changer and I hope they move to have this in place for the route from opening day.

While I appreciate the challenge of picking and choosing, I do question the number of stops. A pseudo-BRT needs to pick and choose judiciously.

If you're stopping at SAIT, why stop at 10th. If you're stopping at 19th, why stop at Crowchild. etc. Why is there a stop at west campus blvd south of the children's?

The stop spacing seems a little off to me. Why put a stop at 10 St when there will be one in front of SAIT? Why the Edmonton Trail stop, when a stop just east of Centre St would be ~380m away? Then they have potentially 3 stops within 800m between Motel Village and North Hill.

Hah, true. They should really just call this a "cross-town bus" instead of BRT. Having fewer stops will not make this "rapid".

I believe the idea is for "mode progression": upgrade the service when ridership or other thresholds are met. It will go from a limited stop service, to a dedicated ROW (transitway) and perhaps eventually to rail. No doubt there will be incremental improvements to operations (signal prioritization or control, rear door boarding, off-vehicle fare payment, queue jumps etc). We may even see stops eliminated as the route is upgraded over time.

That being said, I do agree on the seeming redundancy for certain stops. 10th and SAIT is a good example (I imagine transfers with the 4/5 at 10th is the reason), but perhaps when SAIT develops the NE corner of their campus to a better entrance, the 12th Street station may be eliminated. Same goes for Northland and 19th street.

Most likely because this route will be intersecting major bus routes (Route 2, 3, 4, and 5). The 10 St stop doesn't make sense--may as well make the 10 St stop as the SAIT stop.

Maybe the producer had some taste, cringed and couldn't bear to write yet another old-timey fake 'e' on the end of a made up place name.
