Yes the Richcraft project is advertised as condos, that's why the Albert Street project is closer to reality since the rental market is stronger than the current condo market. Icon still has 200 units available, Bowery and Gotham still have dozens of units available between the two, SoHo Champagne still has units available. I could go on and on. As long as the rental units are reasonably priced in these proposed buildings, filling them shouldn't be too hard.

They should go with a 67 tower (cause it's on the Confederation Line) with 40 and 50 floors for the other two towers.

The fact that it will be rental worries me as they might come up with a cheaper design.
Hey at least it isn't 27 stories! I think a series of towers at slightly different heights looks good. I am also worried they might come up with a cheaper design for rentals, but whatever they do I'm sure it will look better than the Crapridge standard we have now.

Cool... a little bit boxy, but I do love the height Hopefully they fully animate and integrate the street level to make this a true urban "neighbourhood".

With this... and the condos/hospital at Carling/Preston... hopefully they will re-evaluate double-tracking the Trillium line in Phase 3...

This website has them

http://ottwatch.ca/

Certain small scale applications don't have a public comment component so I believe those drawings/reports/studies aren't uploaded. This is certainly an improvement from 5-10 years ago when a member of the public had to book an appointment with a planner to view the drawings. Now if only the City reduced the # of paper prints required

59 stories wont be 200m, probably 185-190m. For comparison, Claridge Icon is 143m at 45 stories.

I like the height nevertheless, but again, like with other proposals in Ottawa, same comment as always - whats with Ottawa's obsession with boxy buildings!?!?

1. Cost
2. Northern Climate, Ice Buildup Risks?
3. Pretty high seismic activity (bringing me back to 1)
4. Conservative architectural style that just can't be broken

It doesn't matter if the floorplates on those towers are bit big. The towers are so tall, they won't look even a little bit stumpy when they're done. It's all about proportionality.

That is some sweet-ass render porn.
Would love to see the final project resemble this, and not be Claridgified.

I am ok with this. I am not blown away by the initial design but I am definitely ok with this.

The 59 story tower is noted as 189.3 metres excluding what looks to be about a 10 metre mechanical penthouse. This thing could end up the same height as Living Shangri-la in Vancouver...around 200 metres.

As others have mentioned, the design is not earth shattering, but still nice and good height which Ottawa desperately needs!

I would looooove to see a "future Ottawa skyline render" with Claridge Icon, the Dow Honda towers and these ones to see how the skyline could potentially end up looking in 5, 10, 20 years...

The new design is very boring and uninspired.

I wonder how much higher the roof height will be compared to Place de Ville Tower C. Tower C sits on an escarpment. It will be higher, but I bet a 59 story tower in this spot won't look dramatically taller than Tower C from a distance.
