Hopefully this won't turn into another 300 - 400 footer. I want developers to push the height to atleast 700ft.

With all of the new office space that has been built out, and with the speed at which it is subsequently being leased, I have to think that we are fast approaching the point where the cost proposition of building a very large office building makes sense. At some point, a developer is going to determine that a 700+ ft. project can be filled quickly enough to be worth the construction cost. I know next to nothing about how such projects are really done, but it's just hard for me to imagine this not happening sooner rather than later.

Wasn't 609 main in Houston a spec building? http://www.609mainattexas.com/

Maybe we can get something like that. 752ft.

These are just some renderings I found on STG's Planning and Design Page

Not sure if they're current, abandoned, or what.

Capitol Study - Austin, TX - 200,000 sf

CBD Study - Austin, TX - 216,000 sf

This almost seems like it could be Shoal Creek Walk from a different angle. Maybe an earlier rendering, or is this a different building altogether?

Design Study XV - Austin, TX - 125,000 sf

From the third rendering, this looks to be in the block directly south of the William P. Clements State Office Building, behind the DoubleTree Suites.

I was looking at this one a while back. It looks like there is an historical market at the bottom right. But I couldn't find the location with Streetview.

This must have been an old project. It's the site of the SXSW proposal.

Maybe it was a potential design for the proposal. It's around the same height/size as Gensler's concept.

Could be. But it's way too cool and without parking levels. So it was doomed from the beginning.

What a terrible idea. I'm all for this not to happen. I've been visiting St. Edwards Park over the past 2 weeks and I love that area. A hotel that size not only wouldn't fit in, it would negatively impact Bull Creek. As the someone in the article pointed out, that whole stretch west of 360 is prone to flooding. The automatic flood gate is just feet away from the intersection and there are several low crossings over the creek for more than 2 miles. If the guy who is proposing this hotel has visited the area like he says, he would know that. Any future flood of Bull Creek would cut acess to hotel.

The road itself is rual in nature and isn't designed for such a large development.
