And another Carl's Jr is under construction at UofC now too, rumored for a while but signs are up as of this past week.

So where "Ric's Grill" use to be on 8th Street in the Emerald stone building is now being split into two units. One side will be "Noodlebox" and the other side will be "Lot 102: Burger & Bar". coming soon!

Also, right beside Commonwealth bar on 10th avenue where the furniture store use to be, there is a sign up now that says "Bridgette Bar" at least that's what I sa driving by. I don't know anything about this one.

Noticed this as well, will be a welcome addition in replacing what is currently acting as a blank wall. I anticipate that this also means that they will doing some work to the facade which hopefully also entails replacing the tinted glass at grade - this does nothing for creating an interactive public/private realm.

In other news, sign is up for Second Cup at 17th Ave and 4th St - this means the CRUs that have sat empty since being built 2+ years ago will finally have some life!

Saw a sign for Phil & Sebastian's on 20th ave and 5th st NW where they recently demolished a few houses... anyone know anything about this? Seems like a bit of an odd spot but it would be great to have them in Mt Pleasant.

Or maybe it just looked like a P&S sign?

Took another look and I think it's just the design firm for the development advertising that they worked on other P&S projects. Too bad!

EDIT: Today there's a for sale sign up and the Artigiano sign is down. Which is odd considering it's a leased CRU. I imagine it's being offered for sublease.
It's unfortunate that in some spaces landlords did not give any incentive to struggling businesses - cash in point here - Artigiano.

Heard their rent was base $52/53 plus Op costs of $22 making it $74/74 psf for a space akin to hall for $12500+/month rent - it's hard for business to take off whose average customer spend is in the range of $6/7.

I agree to the earlier point that CRU needs to be smaller according to types of businesses so we don't see Corbeaux's and Artigiano's fail - not because of product but because of size.

Good news - Five Guys opened and Blaze Pizza opening soon on 4th Street SW - this should make north part of the Street more lively - except there are few dead zones on the street which needs revitalization otherwise it will not become mini 17th Ave SW as city envisaged.

A restaurant called 'Paramount Grill' opening up in the CRU next to Second Cup at 17th Ave and 4th Street SW.

Former Boxwood space also has a new sign up....pretty sure the name of the new restaurant also starts with a 'P' - but it's escaping me at the moment.
