I like how the Study turned out! I find that the dark grey brick and very Modernist volumes remind me something you'd find in the Netherlands, which to me at least is a good thing. The many new street trees are also nice to see.
Agreed. It's very nice looking in person. Will be a nice bookend to the block once the surface parking lots to the West of this fill in too.

Christie Keeping Decades-Old Tax Agreement With Pennsylvania

Big news! 2,000 more jobs South Philly seems amazing. I found it encouraging to read that Gerard Sweeney, the CEO of Brandywine was very involved in the decision as chairman of the PRPA board; it seems he is very much committed to the Philadelphia market and after listening to a lecture from him, I trust his judgement. Notably, however, the State decided not to expand the port with the new Southport development, but decided instead to increase capacity "by 86%" at the current facilities. Seems like a win to me. Things are looking up for Philly!
University City Historical Society lost the appeal, apparently, circa 1865 house at 4046-4048 Chestnut Street now coming down for new 6-story OSB student housing cube.
Two other twins in this row are now protected (including my old house); the one on the corner of 41st and Chestnut is still unprotected for some reason.
The piece is mostly a look back at them being first to market in an area that others saw as too risky. it catalogs their investments to date. Most interesting piece is towards the end, when they discuss multiple floors of big box retail as the latest thinking for their recently acquired Sansom Street garage. This implies strong demand for such tenants, and yet we have the lower and second levels of the Collins building still vacant.
Does anyone know if they're close to announcing tenants for these spaces? I know Bed Bath and Beyond walked away from Lit Brothers. Why not go above Target?

I didnt realize so much empty retail existed in that building. There is still a lot of vacancy east of broad in spite of all the articles covering the resurgence. Makes me wonder how PREIT managed to get informal agreements on 50% of the gallery already. Ive been underwhelmed by the East Market tenants so far, hopefully the best is yet to come.
