Wow, really? That place is always busy, I'm surprised to say the least. That being said, I've always bemoaned the fact that Starbucks was in the mall and not on the street Uptown, therefore being forced into terrible hours and a small seating area. Maybe they will be looking to re-open elsewhere, there are some excellent street-front options Uptown. If I were them I would look for space up by King Square in advance of the new Irving Oil HQ opening, they could make a killing off of the thousand employees working in a single tower if they were the closest coffee shop.

I have a feeling the Uptown core won't be without a Starbucks for very long...

Brunswick Square isn't really a ghost town. It's a fairly high traffic area. If BSq. is forcing tenants out through leasing agreements i'd imagine they have tenants in place seeking to fill the void. The location Starbucks is in is the high traffic location in the Square. Who knows at this stage.

You would think so! I really can't figure this place out - they forced out The Source and now Starbucks with high renewals but The Source still sits empty as does the old Hallmark location - both prime traffic areas. Starbucks is one of the biggest draws - I'm wondering if they wanted this only to open a street level location where they aren't tied to the mall hours etc. We shall see!

Agreed. With the uptown momentum happening, I can't see them being without an uptown presence for too long. Maybe more of on on street presence to get in on the action. Though I did see one article that said they were focusing more on their drive-thru locations.

Maybe there will be more of a demand once all the IOL employees are uptown needing a Tarbucks fix

Rumour of the day.....I heard that Starbucks is moving to Germaine Street - haven't heard where but apparently Corporate hasn't told staff yet.....we'll see!

The new NB Liquor uptown is ghastly. I'm astonished that it got approved. The fake windows onto Union, the lack of an entrance onto Union, the giant wall of black siding... Ugh. Such a missed opportunity - there are so many buildings uptown that could have been gorgeous retail locations for NB Liquor.

Still an improvement over the parking lot that was previously there.

I see the for sale sign is down from the old law office building at Canterbury and King.....wonder if a "Starbucks opening soon" sign will be going up!

That would be a great location, though probably not likely for a Starbucks since the main floor seems to have a staircase up to a mezzanine level.

My moneys still on Starbucks - I've been to a number of 2 level Starbucks - a couple in Toronto and New York - and they work great.

According to Chsj news, the former Sobey's in McAllistar Mall has been signed to a new company for 2018, meaning that the site will remain empty throughout 2017!

I just saw on FB that, due to a serious illness in the ownership family, that Hayward & Warwick is terminating it's operations. All stock is on 50% off liquidation, with no returns or exchanges, on final sale business.

That sucks to hear. o.o

Moosehead has cancelled their plans for a small-batch brewery on Water Street citing budget shortfalls as reason for cancellation.

"Andrew Oland, the brewery's president and CEO, said in the release that the company still wants to expand its small-batch brewing and will work on new plans.

"The intention of our proposed brewery was for Moosehead to expand its small-batch brewing capability and to have a place to show our passion for beer," said Oland, whose family has been in the brewing business for 150 years.

"That goal has not been lost and we will now take a few months to regroup and develop alternate plans.""
