This spectacular view is from an ad in Western City Magazine announcing the 1938 Convention of the League of California Municipalities.
I couldn't find any additional information on the convention.
Western City Magazine still exists, but it's online archives only go back to 2006.

This large building(s) caught my eye.

detail
It looks like 2 or 3 buildings (with three turrets?) in front of a larger white building. -anyone have an idea what I'm looking at here?
(are the two dark 'openings' at ground level on the left side of building #1 entrances to parking)

And just for fun, here's a closer look at the bottom third of the photograph.

detail
It looks like there's a building in the space where Court flight is suppose to be. (I must be seeing things)
note the Bank of Italy (later B of A) building in the lower right corner---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> now look up
Here's the Bank of Italy (International) Building during construction of new city hall in 1926.

Maybe we've discussed this before, but I'm confused by these two smaller buildings.
the tall arched window portion looks like an addition to the International (Bank of Italy) Building. But what about the oddly shaped building next to it on the left?
