I was wondering about that too. I posted a close-up of it in the CHOP thread. I can't make out what it's suppose to be from the renderings, but it goes all the way over the tracks so I'd assume it's a new access point.

I swear to god. The billboard lobbyists must be putting direct donations in Darryl Clarke's checking account...because there is no possible way these things generate enough tax revenue to offset the corresponding decreases in value of the adjacent properties that they cause.

It's the phase 1 pedestrian connection from CHOP's promenade over to Schuylkill Banks. I believe there are still plans to do a similar pedestrian bridge connection as part of phase 2 or later at Christian Street, not much farther south from here, but I recall hearing about engineering challenges.

there's a lot more then just tax revenue going on with this industry. A few choice campaign contributions and checks given to certain councilman's favorite charities can go a long way. Especially since there is so little organized opposition to the industry. They are a great example of how a relative small time player can have influence way beyond their size.

I heard in addition to the plan for billboards on the MSB building, there's a bill for turning N Broad into a billboard district, horrible idea IMO. The potential revenue is peanuts compared to amount of visual pollution

Hmm, left hand side facing the city heading north, I think. I have to imagine the view of the FMC Tower is pretty astounding from down at the Amtrak tracks. Especially compared to what he would have seen last time he took the train here.
