They may be able to leave via 9th avenue and only travel North on Elphinstone or East crossing over Elphinstone from there. I don't think Elphinstone is closed down from Dewdney all the way to Sask Drive is it? Probably more like 9th or 10th to Sask Drive?

Edit: Nevermind, just checked out the game day map... 9th from McTavish to Elphinstone and Elphinstone from Sask Drive to Dewdney are marked as pedestrian/Regina Transit only.

i didn't mean to have an exit to Elphinstone St. on game day, I'm talking about the rest of the year! Example Regina Pat games all winter etc. etc.

It'll be a purely Rider game (or large concerts, should they occur) thing. No other events would require the same transit considerations.

I guess there is a major announcement with the CFL today from Regina; the CFL commissioner is in town today.

A National Announcement is scheduled for tomorrow.

Rumours are flying on Riderfans, but it appears the media have all but confirmed it will not be a Grey Cup announcement... They don't usually announce that until a year and a bit before anyway (i.e. 2018 will be announced sometime during the 2017 season).

Perhaps it's a new reffing development centre based in Saskatchewan as Rider fans have been the most vocal about the 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 reffing this year...

But the rumours on the Rider Fan forum have included (other than the improbable Grey Cup), official announcement of the CFL combine being in Regina (previously unofficially leaked in October), the HOF game, Football Hall of Fame itself, a major new league sponsor, or some sort of big Canada Day 2017 game thing tied to Canada's 150th.

Since SK has been the loudest in protesting it, some have suggested it's an announcement of the abolishment of the divisions and the CFL becoming one big 9 team league. That, or at least the dissolution of the current playoff structure. #Best6TeamsGetIn

That's just rumours though. It sounds like the combine announcement is more likely.

My money's on the combine. Other things seem improbable (so did a $280m stadium, but I don't expect lightning to strike twice).

I'd expect any big Canada 150 announcement to be made in Ottawa (even if events will take place around the league).

Landscape work happening at NMS. Paving of various parking lots and the pathways in the attached confederation park happened last week. Today it looked like new grass sod is being laid in confed park.

I haven't been there in a while - does anyone know what they are doing with the fountain thing in the middle of confed park? rehab? (seems unlikely given the state of disrepair of the existing fountain) or some kind of new fountain or other feature?

The fountain was still there on Thursday. Not sure what the plan is.

I think the proposal was to refurbish it, but I could be wrong.

Looks like there's a big "You Can Play" announcement in the works as well... so likely that's what it's about. Some sort of major "first"... As there have already been out players, maybe the new first is an all-gay team taking the field next year? Or a pride month featuring rainbow socks/tape...

Not that Regina/Saskatchewan is terrible on acceptance (especially compared to South of the border), but if this is actually the announcement, really don't know why it would be in Regina rather than Toronto...

So... unlikely to be anything stadium related.

CFL week including the combine and a bunch of other items in March. Likely use the Co-operators Centre/Indoor Soccer facilities. Not sure how much use the Stadium will get... But they could use it as a backdrop for some promo development as apparently they'll also do some of that stuff here too for some of the prospects/media personalities.

Regina's actually gearing up to be a bit of a Canadian Sports magnet over the next couple years... CFL Week next March, Memorial Cup bid in 2018, Brier in 2018... Rumoured Grey Cup bid in 2018... Plus likely a few Skate Canada events at the Co-operators complex...

The Facilities are definitely getting some use.

I heard that the stadium has purchased its own bucket crane. I am not sure this is the one shown here installing ribbon boards. Apparently one of the main purposes of the bucket will be to lift workers up to remove snow from the roof if it accumulates excessively.

I love that pic of the new and old Mosaics. I can't think of another example where there have been two big stadiums so close to each other like that in a Canadian city.

I guess this is sort of the middle where both stadiums are 30k+ and right next to each other. Regardless, definitely not a common sight.

Exhibition and Skydome were several km apart. The exhibition grounds are in southwest Toronto, and the Skydome/Rogers Centre is right downtown.

BMO Field is basically on the site where Exhibition Stadium used to be, more or less.

Yes, I know... In a straight line, they're a little more than 2km away from each other, but in terms of "Toronto", they are both on the shore, and pretty close considering the footprint of the CMA. This is also likely the next closest stadium pairing in Canadian History to the other two mentioned; can't think of any other examples. That's why I mentioned "a little further away".
