I have tried to get the threads for 1324 N. Broad, 2012 Chestnut, and Cathedral Campus Towers tagged under Philadelphia Projects and Construction to no avail.

If anybody else wants to try...

Naval Square

I know the wall fell down, but damn... can we start a petition to keep them from rebuilding the wall? And while at it, demolish the rest of the Great Wall of Naval Square? It really opens up the street as this once was a desolate strip when the wall was up.

With the wall down, it opens up green space and trees to the area - it's rather beautiful for now. At the very least, they can just put up a little black fence like they have on the east side of the property. For now, they should at least get rid of the northern wall along Bainbridge and the remainder of the Eastern wall along Grays Ferry. They can wait until CHOP finishes their towers on Schuylkill Ave to get rid of the western wall.

That wall has historic protection in place, possibly in both the Philadelphia and National Register.

Tower crane is up at One Franklin Tower. Somebody get a shot! It's pretty cool to have the tower crane of 1601 Vine and One Franklin Tower basically side by side.

Hahaha! It's not a matter of the actual wall per say, it's a matter that the wall - especially the north facing one along Bainbridge, and eventually the West facing one along Schuylkill Ave - create complete deadzones and desolate stretches.

BU, Northeastern, UMASS, Harvard, MIT ≠ Drexel, Penn, Temple, Villanova, St. Joes, LaSalle Penn is the safety school of the Ivy League. LoL, I'll probably get a lot of sh*t for that one.

WOW, is this person TOTALLY MISINFORMED!! Penn is at least in the top 3-4 of Ivies, comparable to Columbia. 50 years ago, Penn was lower, but this is far from the truth today. Dartmouth, Cornell, and Brown are far below Penn now. If you look at admit rates, Penn is right on par with the top 3 or 4. Penn is larger than all Ivies except Cornell, so Penn's admit rates are necessarily a couple of percentage points higher than the top 3 but lower than others. Penn has also placed between 4 and 8 in US News rankings over the last 15+ years.

Wharton is far more highly regarded and more selective than any Ivy, and its admit rate is the lowest of any Ivy, especially when one considers the fact that the applicant pool is easily more selective than that of any other Ivy.

If you want more detail, I am a parent of high schoolers at a private school Ivy feeder. The top 3 ivies are loaded with hooks, legacies, people that buy admission seats, etc. who are at the bottom of their classes. The joke is that the worst students in each class go to these schools, especially Harvard.

Also, take a look at the alma mater list of the world's billionaires. Penn is the top school, with more than double the number of billionaires compared to the total of the next highest school.

Penn's applications have also been rising far more than those of any other Ivy. If this person who made this ridiculous comment were transported in time to 1950 (and one questions why this comment appears in a real estate forum-rejected from Penn perhaps?), then he/she may be correct. Today, Penn is at or near the top of the Ivy group.

So, yeah, for a host of reasons, it appears that this person has been living in a cave for decades. Before someone makes a moronic, baseless, and offensive comment, he/she should actually look at a fact or two.

Not sure if a pic has been posted already but the crane for the PMC project (Franklin Tower?) is up, I didn't notice it yesterday coming in on the train.

It has been up for the past week. They erected it early last week and have been jacking it up. They are taking off the pre-cast panels. I will try and get some pics posted. I have a great view of this building from my office.

Earlier today (11/8), there was some digging going on at the Goldenburg Group-owned lot at 11th and Cecil B. Moore. Since we already know that Goldenburg has plans for another "mixed-use development", I could only assume that what I saw is related to that!
