Forgot to post these for Intracorp's 3-building Belpark development just south of the Langara Golf Course. This one is very suburban-looking as well, but I think it's a bit more justified given its location a full block away from Cambie Street.

I'm not sure if this was posted anywhere, but I saw the other day that this adorable church on 41st and Elizabeth was going to be demolished.

I know church attendance is low, but can't the church be repurposed. Like having a swimming pool would be cool.

Or at least have it's tower preserved.

This would look better is I was better at photoshop.

I think this thread should be renamed to "Cambie Corridor cookie-cutter development". If this is planning, then it's lazy planning.

Or maybe in language millennial's can understand, "cut & paste development". It sounds techy and has an ampersand in it. (They like to see ampersands a lot in restaurant/pub names, don't they?)

If the Liberty Building on Seymour and Drake (now Shoppers) is designated a heritage building, I don't see why this church should not be one.

It doesn't make sense. I like to blame the viewcones or OCP for destroying this piece of heritage gem. If a tall condo can be put next to it, perhaps this church building can still be preserved. Same thing for the Lutheran Church at Oakridge. It will also be torn down. There was a time when downtown had lots of beautiful buildings too. They were torn down due to a push for North-American style modernization, resulting in many heritage structures gone forever. The same situation is also affecting the suburbs now. How sad this situation is, and short-sighted of planners. Makes me more appreciative of cities like Victoria and London.

I was just at the petrol station on the corner of Cambie and 16th. There was a core drilling team taking a sample on the lot.

Is this a forbear of the future for that lot? Is it in negotiations for a sale? Has it been sold and perhaps the buyer is looking to see what the soil conditions are for construction?

I'm surprised this high-profile location has not been heavily-marketed as it is a great high-traffic location.

The Chevron refinery and all Chevron Gas Stations in BC are for sale - Chevron wants out of BC.
Could be testing at all stations (?)

The worst part is, it's not like you have to sacrifice density for heritage. There is lots of space in this city for increased density which does not contain heritage or character buildings...
