No. I just assumed they were generic American, until someone from Seattle told me they go there every time they visit Metro Van.

Here's the former Mongolie Grill at Cambie and Broadway today. I was able to see a bit in the side door where construction workers were coming and going and the interior looked stripped right back to the 4x4s.

And at Main Street Skytrain station (north/west side) where the original Starbucks was before the expansion/reno of the station.

Is it a 'salon'?

Do they actually sell individual cuppas?

Anyone visited their operations in Asia?

https://www.twgtea.com/location/details?store=161

https://twgtea.com/location?country=SG

This will give you an idea how they usually run the business. I even saw a TWG corner at Harrod's department store's food hall in London. And yes, they do sell tea by the cuppa (with a tea pot of course), but only those with a tea house "cafe" with baked pastry/sweets. I think the Vancouver shop will come with the salon as well.

The dining room at Wendy's Cambie/Broadway is closed for renovations.. the drive thru window is open. They've gutted the dining area and are doing major renovations to the interior and exterior of the building.

There's a new A&W going in on Denman, in the heritage building that has Panago. A Peaked Pies and a froyo place are also moving in.

Other changes on Denman include the English Bay Starbucks being renovated with only a small modular café currently open at the front, as well as the Demall Mall Shoppers expanding into the old HSBC corner space. A noodle shop is replacing one of the three Vietnamese restaurants.

Nice to see some of the empty spots filling in on that street.

There's also a Jethro's opening downtown across from Breka on Bute near Robson.

Anyone know what's up with the Starbucks at Main and E.14th? The adjacent storefront which has been empty for over a year now has Starbucks-looking hoarding saying "Something's Brewing". Are they giving up their corner location? If they're expanding it would be a very large store. Could we be getting our first booze serving Sbux?

More likely to expand than relocate from a corner location.

I guess we can put to rest any idea that the northeast corner of Cambie & Broadway will be redeveloped any time soon. The renos at Wendy's and the former Mongolie Grill are in full swing.

There's a new pizzeria in town, opened up at the corner of Howe and Davie across the street from Tim Horton's. It's a chain from the U.S. called

Firecrust Neopolitan Pizzeria
http://devandchains.com/howedavie-pizzeria-for-september/

Quite a mouthful, pun not intended.

Walked by there last night and love how the restaurant has lit up the corner formerly abandoned by Telus's failed chain. There is now no more homeless camped in front of it.

According to their website it's a chain from Surrey BC.

'Part of the four-year-old Surrey, British Columbia-based Box Concept Food Group'

Word on the street is that good old fashioned bribery did the trick.

Apparently Red Robin on Marine may be closed. That's been in North Van longer than I have (1987). They just renovated that strip mall too and finally got a tenant for the corner unit (Choices).
