Tijuana

Tijuana pop: 1.6 million
9/30/16 homicide count: 636

89 last month alone. On pace to be the most violent year since 2010 when the city recorded at least 820 homicides.

(& of course Canada). Although for its size/ a US City that's actually not even that bad.
That has nothing to do with U.S. murder rates (or, I suspect, Canadian murder rates).

NYC had crazy high crime in the 1970's, and had the best safety net in the U.S. back then. It still does today, now with the lowest crime rate of any U.S. city.

Not really. Poor U.S. neighborhoods have similar income and education levels as many first world nations.

The murder rate problem in the U.S. is largely (not completely) an issue of young African American males in certain ghettoized geographies. Outside of those narrow demographics the U.S. murder rate is not that different from the rest of the first world.

I think so, yeah. In any case, those cities don't have African Americans, really, and are largely suburban, so poor comparisons to NYC.

Toronto & Montreal in Canada both have more Black People than those Cities still less crime, Race has nothing to do with Crime. I could even bring up Paris & London as well. Treat Minorities better & they will do the same in society.

And Indians in america do incredibly better than Indians in Indian do, what's your point?

You can't compare country to country.

Treat minorities better? Black crime rates exploded after the civil rights movement. Please learn more about american history before you chastise us on how we treat minorities. Also if its so bad here, why do we lead the world in immigration ...and yes there are many black immigrants. Who actually do better economically than our native black pop.

No, none of this is true.

There are very few African Americans in these cities. There are plenty of foreign-born black people, but, as in the U.S., foreign-born blacks aren't heavily correlated with homicide rates.

West Indian and West African neighborhoods in the U.S. tend to not have particularly high homicide rates. Places like Canarsie, Brooklyn, or Cambria Heights, Queens or Elmont, Long Island have relatively low homicide rates, and are mostly foreign-born black neighborhoods.

And the rise in African American homicide rate coincided with the greatest income/social welfare advances in U.S. history- the 1960's. so your theory makes zero sense. Detroit had the highest black incomes on earth concurrent with the explosion in inner city homicide rates. NYC had free university for all, free healthcare and the most generous welfare payments in existence concurrent with homicide peaks.

Yeah the US definitely knows how to market itself as a Country I guess.
(It's always sort of been that way). However this doesn't necessarily
equal "better" either. (After all the World's developed nation's are industrializing rapidly everyday too).
Some of these Countries too, Nigeria, Indonesia, even the Phillippines
could easily have more People overall than the US within our lifetimes also as their birth rates are considerably higher.
Furthermore Canada is also a Top 4 Country for Immigrant's which isn't saying much either. Yea Black Immigrants to the US tend to do better overall just like they do in other developed nations.
But I still stand by what I said b4 about treating minorities better.
In other Developed Nations I believe Blacks are still less afraid of the Police than in the US, you disagree?
Trump is right, you go to the grocery store u get shot, you guys need law & order!

You have some good points for sure, but it's not necessarily a good thing to not let Black's be responsible/ take responsibility for their lives wouldn't u say/ agree?
Infact I'd go as far as saying that giving them Welfare Benefits is actually an injustice against Blacks & their potential.
It's just vote buying & what it essentially does is allow the cycle of violence to continue.
Not all Blacks on welfare abuse it sure, but most have a propensity to do so. Before a Welfare State was enacted/ passed Black Homicide Rates in the US actually used to be FAR lower, check the stat's, the US Homicide Rate's peaked @ a point sure, but Pre-1950 US had Homicide Rate nationwide where comparable/ on par with Canada today. (No welfare state btw), & this is with Black's likely even making up much more of the US Population Per-Capita than they do today.

Portland has 14 murders/16 homicides after a murder-suicide at an office complex in the city's inner northeast:

Detectives: Woman shot in Portland office building; co-worker commits suicide nearby

If things keep up Ottawa may end up with a murder rate similar to Portland's and Toronto may finish higher.

US cities are typically two-faced but Chicago is the largest and most extreme example IMO.
Why not see for yourself?

https://visualizations.dnainfo.com/chishootings/

Look at where these shootings are concentrated. Hint: Filter to daytime shootings to get a sense of where the perpetrators live. At night, they are out looking for trouble, dealing drugs, going to clubs, etc.

Once you have found the locations, do some street view tours of those neighborhoods. Think they look like Middle Eastern war zones?

Ya but Canada still has Vancouver & Montréal that are both larger than Portland
with lower Murder Rates Per-Capita. Also Ottawa is considerably more Diverse than Portland is with a much larger
Downtown so it still offers more!
Canada is still vastly ahead of comparable sized US Cities! Oh Canada!

PS. The City Limits of Toronto is also larger than the whole Portland Metro Area as well,
lets not even go there Toronto offers ALOT more than Portland does, & its still very "safe."

Not really a great comparison considering blacks aren't native to Canada, France, and the U.K. like Indians are to India.

We have to ask ourselves....why does our native black population struggle while foreign immigrants thrive and prosper relatively speaking? I notice that violence among black citizens is higher in countries that had a significant slave past moreso than countries that did not...i.e. USA, Brazil, Jamaica...you get the point.

They are right though. Cities like Toronto, London, Paris all have pretty decent size black populations and murder rates in those cities are still all nearly at the 1.0/100k mark.
