Bikes and Beyond on Henderson in Elmwood appears to be in good shape. He recently expanded to include the grocery store next door. Bought 3 bikes there for the family; great products, service, and staff.

Either way part timers working at a store aren't going to be getting a lot of extra hours, just a different variety of hours, so that is a poor argument.
If a store is open more hours, people will have to work and be paid for more hours.

Some kind of 4600 sq ft CRU being proposed at the NE corner of Stapon and Regent. Not sure exactly what it is. Going in the KP parking lot. New ownership looking for more revenue?

I like how aggressive the new owners of kp are! it is a busy mall and I think they see the potential it has.

It seems to get proposed every few years and then nothing happens. If I recall properly that the last time it came up the EKCC wanted the mall owner to pay for traffic improvements in the area and nothing happened after that.

CRA employee parking is located @ NE corner of Regent & Stapon. Is this moving in the KP parking lot?

Great to see Mastermind Toys opening a second Winnipeg store. Never heard much about how the first one is doing but this suggests well enough to justify a second location.

In terms of CRA employee parking, been years since I was there but they used to have two absolutely huge parking lots on their own campus. I would imagine anything on the KP land is a purely overflow lot, or unauthorized parking. If it was an overflow lot there is likely an exist clause for the mall if needed.

No idea. They don't have enough parking over in the lot west of Stapon?

Well, not sure what traffic improvements they could possibly envision now. All the roads are built out.

Its been a while but I think it may have been to pay for traffic signal and turn lane improvements in the general area that the city did not want to pay for.

Some of those improvements may have been done when Crossroads was expanded by Morguard investments, so it may be a moot point now unless there is some requirement to pay their share of the improvement cost back to Morguard.

Today Best Buy Canada opened 10 Google Stores in locations across the country and another four larger stores will follow later this year.

Included on the list is St James location. The experience will likely be similar to the existing Best Buy Mobile and Microsoft store-in-store concepts that location already has.

Lots of work currently going on at Northgate. The majority of the parking lot is getting redone which is long overdue, looks like they are relocating the Royal Bank ATM to by the theatre, and I noticed fencing around part of the back lot next to the former Kmart which I guess means some demo is going on.

They are demo-ing, dividing up some of the space, dunno what for. Clearly some tenant wants it.

Curious project.

I'm glad we finally got owners at Northgate that seem to be getting things done. Now if only they took over Garden City too!

In The Monday Edition of the WPG FREE PRESS...
Reenders extension clears way for new retail development

The first major new retail development in more than a decade in the Regent and Lagimodiere area is ready to move forward with the recent completion of a key infrastructure project in the area.

Shindico Realty Inc. was waiting for Reenders Drive to be extended east from Stapon Road to Peguis Street before proceeding with its proposed 340,000-square-foot Shops of Kildonan Mile project.

The open-air shopping centre will be built on the north side of Reenders between Stapon Road and Peguis Street and immediately north of the Kildonan Place Shopping Centre. Shindico had to cover the cost of the Reenders Drive extension, and company president and CEO Sandy Shindleman said the project took longer than expected.

With the new roadway now open for several months, Shindico is ready to proceed with the shopping centre development. Shindleman noted the new roadway will give the growing number of residents in West Transcona direct access from the east to the shopping centre site.

Direct from Shindico..

Shops of Kildonan Mile will bring over 340,000 sq. ft. of new retail to the heart of east Winnipeg’s dominant shopping hub. The Regent and Lagimodiere node is the largest shopping destination in East Winnipeg with over 3 million square feet.
