Some framing has appeared that might give us some clues as to the shape and appearance of the old Telus building's new skin.

Saw that too - looks interesting.
I wonder if the frames will show through the "art glass"?

PS - looks like the at-grade frontage will not be opened up (too much concrete?)

They've also been disassembling the old HVAC equipment housings above. Quite the process.

Too bad, it would have been nice if they could of set back that street level facade a bit.

I think they'll have to repour that corner of the sidewalk to bring it down to grade.

They should have gone wild with lighting in the alley. A hundred times more than what's going to be there. Lights in the pavement, on the walls, up above. Programmable and animated. It would have drawn people into the alley just to have a look and then when they're there they would discover a place to have a drink and also learn that it's a shortcut to Georgia Street.

It's not done yet but I'm not optimistic.

What you said is so true, IMO. But this is Pedestrian, Presbyterian-based Vancouver, and such ideas are just too imaginative and fanciful. Utilitarianism is the overarching philosophy here, although that is slowly changing.
But I (and I am sure others) love your idea, and if there's a movement to do it, it must just be a go. Here's hoping.

Agree 100 percent. Those blank sterile walls are screaming for animation and lights. This is not a quant historic alleyway that already has character through its history and mesonary work (where such a lantern lighting scheme would work) It is a modern empty canvas that needs some infusion of technology and pizazz.
