That's the thing: i'm not even sure if Harbour Station's naming rights were officially put up for bid or if it was only being considered. A lot of it, i'm assuming, would have to do with who owns the main tenants in each of the Saint John and Moncton arenas (McCain and Irving respectively).

And it's wrong to assume that all Irving companies owe their primary allegiance to Saint John. There are many (primarily JDI affiliated) Irving companies that are either based in Moncton, or have their major operations here. This list includes Majesta/Royale Tissues, Irving Personal Care, Midland Transport, Cavendish Farms, Master Packaging and Kent Building Supplies.

I would imagine that if any of these companies wanted to get into a bidding war for naming rights, it would be one with a consumer focus where advertising can make a difference to customer loyalty. For that reason, I wouldn't be surprised to see either Majesta/Royale or Cavendish Farms in the mix.

I wish The Pumphouse Brewery was flush with money. "The Pumphouse" would be a catchy name that would capture the imagination of fans far and wide.
"Wildcats play at the Pumphouse tonight."
"Catch the Moncton Miracles at the Pumphouse tonight."
Alas, I fear the cost might be out of Shaun's league (but I hope I'm mistaken.)

For the love of God please no combo names, ie, the Alpine-McDonalds-Master Packaging Centre.

The Pumphouse would be a great name for it; but is probably nixed even if the brewery had the money for it due to deals with bigger breweries and so forth.

Kent Centre sounds okay, but rather bland. And might be confusing with Kent County.

I don't think any local companies are going to be in play, I have a feeling it will be a larger bank etc. Don't get me wrong the irvings have all the power in the world to buy the name.. but I think more out of province companies and banks will be the ones to get the rights.
Plus I just don't think any of the Irving companies names have a good ring to them.

Other insurance or financial corporations with a local presence would also be in play - Blue Cross, Assomption Vie, Uni

Finally, another couple of companies with local presence but big advertising budgets to consider include - Rogers, Molson

Bell/Aliant has more of a Saint John presence, but I could see them being interested too.

Tim Hortons did have there name on the 4-Ice, and din't renew it so I don't think they would do it for the Event Centre, and Kent Arena Sounds more like an Arena in Kent County then one in Moncton so I don't think it would be that name either but I could be wrong on either/or.

Personally I think either:
Highfield Square Garden, or Highfield Garden (In Memory of Highfield Square that once stood on the property)
Assumption Life Garden
Telus Arena
Blue Cross Arena
Irving Centre(But I think that is the name on the renovated arena in Bouctouche)
Cavendish Farms Centre (But sound more suited to PEI, and not Moncton, NB)
RBC Centre would possibly work as well

I always thought Highfield Arena or Highfield Coliseum would be neat if they weren't seeking naming rights funding.

Again, as this discussion wears on, i'd be surprised if the naming rights weren't Irving-affiliated in one way or another in the end.

Highfield Square Gardens would sound pretty good, but it's always good to have a big name attached. As much as I LOVE the name of Harbour Station for our arena as it gives a nod to the former Union Station, I feel it would have more "Umph" if it was named Moosehead Gardens, IBM Place, Saputo Arena. I dunno, just a name that has more recognition.

I doubt it would be anything Gardens. It'll be _______ Arena, Place or Centre. There's a reason why they didn't name other venues the "Bell Forum" or the "Rogers SkyDome". If you can say "Let's go meet at the Forum", Bell's not getting their money's worth. Unfortunately, it takes all of the fun and uniqueness out of it.
