not sure who else has been by the Hale building lately but construction has stalled and there has been no visible activity for months. It looks as bad as it has for the last few decades.

I can't see how this can be good for NJ tax payers or property owners. I don't see it but maybe I'm missing something.

If this plan was approved, and I worked in Philadelphia commuting from Jersey, I think I'd seriously consider moving to PA.

10th and Buttonwood - Haverford Bicycle Company Coming Back to Life

This is huge for the Callowhill neighborhood.

According to their website, they've already got at least one tenant, with MADE Studios moving from 3rd & Cherry. In many ways, this reminds us of the 990 Spring Garden project just a few blocks away, and while that property is located next to the future Rail Park, this building is right next to one of the entrances.

It should also be noted that they'll be seeking some kind of retail on the first floor. From the look of the rendering, that'll be happening in the little white building at the corner of 10th & Buttonwood.

The owners of that project bought a ton of real estate in callowhill. It's the guy that was tony goldman's man in philly when they did midtown village

when it someone going to rehab the Independence Press building (I think that is the name) near 9th and Spring Garden? it was supposed to be converted years ago and the project died. I can't believe that building is still rotting away in that location.

It's what happens when you under fund things for decades in the name of fiscal conservatism and then realize you've racked up a tab you can't pay.

It was owned by an NY family that sold it to a local investor last year or so. There's actually an 18mm construction loan on it that closed earlier this year so I'm guessing something is happening.

Seems like that crazy "Not of the Ordinary" (NOTO) nightclub is indeed happening in Callowhill. Between this, the two high rises we saw proposed on 4th St., the rail park, and the restoration of the haverford bicycle building, there's a ton of investment going on there!

Philly needs more super clubs like this. This area is really on fire! Hope development keeps coming to this area north of Vine and south of Spring Garden.

Goose Island to open brewpub next to Fillmore in Fishtown

Next year, a Goose Island brewpub is expected to open in a former dry-ice plant on Laurel Street, around the corner from the Fillmore and behind Punch Line. Word of the project trickled out in August, after a liquor license was posted on the building.

The project is a confirmed go. The lease was signed last week, reports Core Realty.

In a note to me on Oct. 12, Goose Island president Ken Stout said the brewpub was aiming to open in summer 2017, "pending all we need to accomplish first."

Fishtown, Northern Liberties, and the nearby areas will be awash in brewpubs, breweries, and taprooms in the next year:

Evil Genius (1727 N. Front St.) is getting close with its brewpub. For now, it's running a beer garden outside. Saturday, Oct. 15 from 2-10 p.m. will be its fifth anniversary celebration.

Flying Fish Crafthouse (31st and Master Streets), targeting a November opening, will be a pub in Brewerytown serving mainly the beers of the Camden County brewer.

Fishtown Brewpub (1100 Frankford Ave.) is aiming at February 2017.

Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. (957 Frankford Ave.) is quite a ways out with its taproom, based on a chat with co-owner Rob Jahn.

Roy-Pitz Brewing Co. (990 Spring Garden St.) is looking at the first quarter of 2017 for its brewpub in the loft district.

Urban Village Brewing Co. (1001 N. Second St.), a brewpub, is prepping for an early 2017 opening in Schmidt's Commons (the former Piazza at Schmidt's).

Yards Brewing Co. is expanding into a building at Fifth and Spring Garden Streets in late 2017.

Also on the books are:

La Cabra Brewing's brewpub in Berwyn is about two weeks away.

Crowded Castle Brewing Co. is in progress in Phoenixville.

Wrong Crowd Beer is a Haverford nano-brewery, not open to the public, that should be selling beer in two months or so.

This is actually pretty cool...Goose Island is Chicago based and I don't believe they have any locations outside of Chicago. This is good for us beer lovers

Rodin Square by Benjamin Franklin Parkway is officially open for business

The CVS is scheduled to open before Thanksgiving.

In addition, residents have been moving into the 293 luxury apartments at Dalian on the Park above Whole Foods for weeks now. Along with easy access to the ground-level retail, residents are privy to a rooftop terrace with an infinity pool and a fitness center that looks toward the Barnes Museum and city skyline.

What an incredible transformation from the absolute eyesore that was there before. And the new Whole Foods is flat-out tremendous. I was there for dinner this evening and it really feels like they pulled out all the stops. Philly is really happening.

I was thinking it would stop NJ from poaching Philadelphia/Pa companies with their tax incentives. I'm happy to see suburban NJ companies being lured to Camden but don't like the cross state moves. Sorry I wasn't clear.
