This is really an honest question-----now that its been around awhile and has a track record, has the CDR review process actually helped any project get substantially better? It seems like its just another hoop to jump through, and one that doesn't have any strength to fight in its own weight group. What is the CDR suppose to get done?

Just my observation, but it seems like small tweaks have come out of the process and slightly improved some designs. I don't remember anything getting drastically redesigned as a result of the process.

for the most part drastic changes arent needed. The CDR is primarily concerned with how large projects interact with their neighbors and the street level. They rarely call for major design changes or criticize an entire project. They ask for tweaks that will improve how the building interfaces with the public.

I rode my bike through Manayunk today and saw that there are zoning notices "for the erection of a four-story building" on a large site on Main Street between Shurs Lane and Ridge Avenue!

Also, the apartments on Venice Island and Falls Ridge are coming along at a nice pace. I'll post pictures after I get out of my lecture at Temple.

If you're talking about the lot close to the CVS on main street I think that's an old zoning notice for a building that was shot down by the Wissahickon Civic a couple of years ago. The complaint was parking, steep slope, and I think there was a flooding issue. I liked it and voted for it but was in the minority.

If anyone is near the huge factory at 5th and Master they should get some pics, a lot of progress. I was near there this week- windows are going in, cranes are lifting materials onto upper floors, etc. I didnt see a lot of work on the facade but I'm sure that is coming soon.

I thought the same thing until I saw a new hearing date. Apparently, it will take place on Wednesday, October 12th at 5:00 PM. Also, the notices looked new and bright orange, which is what initially captured my attention. Looking at the pic that I took of the notice, the address is 3924 Main Street (Lot #13).

Walked by the in progress cap on Vine today. I think it's gonna be great. The expressway is such a scar on the face of the city. Hopefully, little by little, more of it can be capped. Maybe 16th through 18th street next. And then down to Broad.
