While we wait for our friend to render our future skyline, let's have a look at the site. It's getting exciting now:

Delivery of huge sleeves for huge cassions:

Huge rig for drilling huge cassions, they are setting up all the compressors to start running the rock crushing head:

Waiting to be used:

Meanwhile the two smaller rigs are running non-stop. Switching out a head:

Sorry for medicore quality, just trying to fill in the gaps while the real photogs are actually working or something.

Pish-posh. Mediocre is not a word to use with this set of shots. This was good stuff.

A bit earlier than LVDW;s great shots, and a bit lower.

Augars to extract the soil

These crew was really cranking with the the drill, up, rotate, spin, rotate, drill routine.

Job Pressure (connecting all the air compressors)

Nifty connection that allows the compressed air to pass down the spinning square drive shaft (bar).

The end of the bar - with a cap for standing it up.

Motor for turning the shaft

Pneumatic grinding bit

^^^^So massive, So epic, So awesome. This thing is going to be amazing to watch over the next several years. I would imagine there will be two tower cranes, but how cool would it be if there were three cranes for the same site.

This site is really like Candyland right now. Walked over at lunch and it was going on all cylinders. All three drills going, all different sizes, including the big one. Multiple deliveries happening. It's a must see. There were like 15 people watching

Nice shots, all! Man, what a cage^. I was in college during the rise of Trump Tower and would have loved to see it. This is the next best thing. And what a perfect perch for us basement dwelling, mouth-breathing cheeto-eaters. Gonna swing by the show tomorrow. What time do the doors open? 6am?

I have been by the site the last two days during my lunch break and always see a handful of others there checking out the scene. I'm sure I've seen many of you and don't even know it.

I have never seen such big caissons ever! Can anyone tell me why such big pilings are used in Chicago (I noticed most Chicago projects use a similar size)?

One area where Chicago surpasses NYC, amongst all their buildings going up, are foundations. While they're essentially just pouring concrete over bedrock, our superstructures require 100'-deep stilts, 12' wide to reach bedrock. It's always a sight to behold.

Wow... what a gorgeous rendering. Chicago is a spoil of riches when it comes to highrise architecture. Congrats on what appears to be another addition to this wealth.

I had a larger rendering if anybody wants one as a wallpaper but for some reason... it was deleted from the Chicago compilation...? Posted it yesterday.

Anyways, the rendering I posted a couple of posts up.. here is a 5400 × 3764 version for those interested. Be sure to zoom in!!!

5400 × 3764 Rendering: http://cdn2.uvnimg.com/e4/a3/5fb0963...ment-group.jpg

Can someone explain to me why this link above was deleted from the Chicago construction complilation???

Seems relevant to chicago highrise and construction.
