Nothing yet. The site is zoned for row housing.

They would probably need to mount it on the roof as it was back then.

More cool public art near Ice District
Source: Jskye @ C2E

Quote:
The LRT air vent is being painted. Two local artists currently attending post secondary in Montreal are back here for the project! Its on the North East corner if your looking for it. The pillars will also be incorporated into the artwork when they are done. I was wondering what this structure was, the top of the pillars seem to match grant mac, in a weird way it looked like a prison guard tower. Nice to see the artwork dressing it up!

Edmonton Ice District partner WAM rebrands

BILL MAH

WAM Development Group, best known for partnering with Daryl Katz to develop Edmonton’s arena district, is rebranding to become ONE Properties, the company announced Tuesday.

Besides Ice District, the privately held Edmonton-based real estate development and management company is behind commercial projects such as Emerald Hills Centre in Sherwood Park and the Henday Industrial Park.

President and CEO Darren Durstling said the previous name, WAM Development Group, no longer reflected the company’s business model. WAM, which was founded in 1987, stood for Western Asset Management.

“The question that we get when we go into new markets is, what’s WAM?” Durstling said. “We’re past being western and asset management is only one part of what we do.”

I don't blame you for quitting C2E, I might follow suit. The arguing about the lack of white people in those murals on the LRT vent is unbelievably ridiculous.

^^Going to let it return to normal before I consider a return. Don't want to deal with armchair quarterbacks and simcityzens.

I'm going to save this quote for when/if you return. That is some kinda of snobbery. It's this type of posting/attitude that makes me glad you decided to leave c2e. Dont come back!

Yeah. Sport history would have been more appropriate. This mural says nothing to me. There's five faces. Thats great.

The area is perhaps the most eclectic and multi-cultural in the city, perfectly suited for this. Enough sports beside it.

Sports history would be cool as well.
I was listening to an interview on the CBC today about the mural, they said they wanted it to "connect" the arena district with the people who live in the Boyle Street area. From that viewpoint I get it; an interpretive sign (and even brief life histories/quotes from the local people that modelled for the paintings) would be great, provide context.

The c2e discussion on this is beyond stupid. That forum just gets worse and worse.

C2E is a far better slice of Edmonton with all its warts, scars & flaws than this isolated, insular, self-aggrandizing echo chamber of a "community", for better & for worse.

I dig why some people prefer to post here, as it's far easier to control the conversation & narrative with a much narrower focus & smaller number of contributors but this is hardly a bastion of free thought or open speech. It's a circlejerking echochamber, a little ivory tower in the digital age for some posters to look down on everyone else, tutting & finger pointing all the way.

I really don't hate cold. I just think his attitude towards others of differing opinions is deplorable at best. Case in point, calling people armchair quarterbacks and simcityzens. Cold is a great resource for information and insight in to developments many of us are not privy to, because we work in other sectors. But the attitude that goes with it, and outright dismissal of others who don't agree or stroke off his ego is a little sickening.

no, not everyone subscribes to the IanO way of life, and nor should they.
