Continuing the discussion in here. It's indeed Burns Bog on fire and the plume of smoke is huge!

The smoke extends all the way to Alex Fraser Bridge now.

Fire crews are waterbombing the fire. Seen two flybys already.

Commercial flights are still landing from the east. Just saw Lufthansa 747 pass by the fire.

Damn, it is really burning. I can see flames all the way from Metrotown when really zoomed in!

The smoke is now moving towards Burnaby in North. We will all be smelling this in couple of hours.

On news they are saying that the fire is close to jumping Highway 17! Also one of the tall radio masts in the middle of fire is about to fall! Wow, this is turning out to be a big one.

Great pics Klazu.

I saw them on twitter from CKNW as "view from Metrotown". Let them know if you weren't the one that sent them.

Thanks! Yeah, that was me tweeting those photos. I was interested to see if they would catch any attention and some people did re-tweet them. Hopefully you "Liked" them.

Looking from up here, the huge mushroom plume of smoke is gone, but things are still out of control:

"Delta Mayor Lois Jackson confirms the fire has now jumped Highway 17, and is moving into a developed area."

If the wind keeps turning north, the smoke will soon impede my view of the fire. Smoke already blowing to Burnaby.

Feeling sorry for those on lower elevations tonight. Smoke is very noticeable even up here and must be really thick on the valley level. Can't see any flames though, due to the smoke.

Fortunately there is some rain ahead of us in couple of days.

It's really interesting how thick the smoke is up on the Burrard Peninsula. Here in Ladner you wouldn't even know anything was on fire. I know it's the wind and all but kinda weird to think about.

But yes, raining here in Delta too!

I think the rain is too little to help them out, but it's still good for cleaning up the air. The smoke was still visible this afternoon, but not nearly as dramatic as the photos from yesterday.

As per news the fire was 50% contained this afternoon and they were hoping to contain it by end of the day. I just wonder how close to the industrial park it must have come, but apparently they managed to divert it, as I haven't heard of any damages there.

Here are some photos from the Burns Bog fire aftermath. The fire got started near these four antennas and one of them collapsed from the heat.

You can tell the burned bog and forest from the red tone.

Strong winds caused the fire to jump the four-lane highway and almost burned down the industrial area next door. It is incredible how the fire stopped (or the firefighters managed to stop it) just meters from the containers.

Traffic lights in this intersection are functional although the fire burned all around it.

a Vancouver model is one her way to the top, she made it to vogue's hottest models of the moment

http://www.vogue.com/13414811/top-new-models-fall-2016/

Natalie Ludwig
(Elite)
Hometown: Vancouver
Season highlights: Ralph Lauren Collection, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Valentino
Follow her: @natalielud

Classic good looks never go out of style, and Ludwig is as classic a beauty as we’ve seen these past few seasons. Her perfect proportions and Ivy League pedigree make her a throwback to the glamour girls of the early aughts, but her show list represents the best of right now. Whether she was fitting right in with Christopher Bailey’s Burberry troupe or playing against type at Maison Margiela, Ludwig was the model to watch.

Any relation to Alexander Ludwig? (Bjorn Ironside on Vikings, Hunger Games, Twilight etc)

edit: answered my own question, he has a younger sister named Natalie. Good genes in that family.

I am heading to Seattle this long weekend and was thinking of driving the 520 floating bridge and the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge. I remember officedweller or someone saying that Canadians / BC license plates are exempt from the electronic tolls due to there being no agreement between BC and WA, correct?

I haven't been to Seattle for a long time, so I am excited to go see how their boom is progressing. It's nothing compared to Metro Vancouver, I have understood, but a lot going on down there as well. Seattle is also a nice city to visit, so it's about time for a visit!

Yeah, it's still free the last time I checked. If you're downtown go walk down into the bus tunnel for a peek.

Definitely check it out! I'm usually down there every second or third weekend and love it.

Check out the new LRT extensions to the UW campus, from downtown via the tunnel. Also the University outdoor mall is a nice place to stop for lunch.

Also check out the new LRT along Broadway in Capital Hill, and the new library downtown needs to be seen to be believed.

I'm also a sucker for nightlife in Cap hill or pioneer square! Those Seattle hotdogs with creme cheese and onions are top notch!
