Wow, that would really be a game-changer for that area! This is just the kind of density LA should be building more of by every Metro rail station.

Wow!

IF this gets built, it would seriously be a game changer for that area. The article doesn't seem to include a link to the planning documents, but is there any mention of height or parking at all yet? Or is it just this tease of an initial rendering (by TCA of all firms), showing at least 30 floors on the taller tower. With the parking I would assume it's reasonable, given its TOD status.

Anyway, IF this gets built, it ensures the slow (or maybe quick?) encroach of the skyline south towards USC.

Upon further studying of the rendering, you can tell it's got TCA written all over it, but definitely one of their better designs.

Sorry I just have to post the image again. But that would have been one sweet addition if that got built. Love the see through box in the top corner. I wish no one would have posted that! That's going to kill me thinking that could have been in the skyline but won't.

I like the current design better - it has better balance. And the base of the of the previous proposal looks awkward. I'm happy with the current design, not to mention the old one is shorter.

Hey guys, I was in Downtown today so expect a photo update in about an hour. In the meantime, I spoke with one of the project managers at the Onni 50 story site. They told me that 1212 Flower was indeed a go. Groundbreaking was slated for October but due to stubborn permits they are more likely aiming for November. They have already made contracts with the unions and contractors so they're basically waiting on the final permits and then it's a go. He assured me that it's definitely happening and he will personally be part of the construction himself in the coming months. So expect more cranes!

Current what? This isnt an old proposal for Wilshire Grand. Its just people circlejerking over a 12 year old design for 755 Figueroa.

Please no more circle-talk "buddy".
I also doubt that this is the right place for jerking.

I am not trying to raise the standards here, but we should keep a certain level.

@Mojeda

Thank you for your update.

I always like posts that give onsite, feet on the ground or insider info!

some of the conflict in a few recent postings above may be due to certain forumers....me, for example....visiting this thread & always hoping to see new info, update pics or interesting news or scoops instead of more generic type posts. but ymmv.

Nice update Mojeda101! I really like your overhead shots. Do you take most of those from Ace Hotel?

I can't help but be excited by the Palmer projects. With his projects plus the new hotels along with Ace already there, that stretch of Broadway will soon be booming.

8th street is booming, Broadway is booming, South Park is booming, historic core is very active, fashion district is active, arts district booming...it's an exciting time for downtown! The changes between 2014 and 2020 are going to be very dramatic both visually and activity wise.

The NIMBYs will probably challenge it, as they do everything. You have one NIMBY sitting in a 300' office building in Hollywood, trying to block the Palladium project because it will block his view. NIMBY's make me angry!

Great pics--look at all those cranes! Impressive density. As all those parking lots are developed with skyscrapers, L.A. building density approaching that of downtown S.F. Hardly any parking lots left in DTSF.

That 54 story Metropolis tower will be impressive, as will the Oceanwide and South Hill towers. In total number of 50+ story buildings, L.A. will have twice as many as S.F., if anyone is counting. Probably 3rd in the nation after NYC & Chi. OK, maybe Miami too has more 50+ condo towers. But L.A. the west coast king of tall.

Agreed! It's quite the experience to witness this evolution of LA into a highly dense city.

BTW, avoid quoting photoshoots. It makes for unnecessary scrolling and loading. You can always quote the text so you can continue to give the well earned props for our board's photographers.

And thanks Mojeda. Good work like always!
