The bridge design competition was a Midtown Alliance project and is for the 10th Street and Courtland/McGill Bridges.
From Midtown Alliance Website:

Status as of 9-26-16:

Peachtree Street Bridges (North and South) - Concurrently, Midtown Alliance and Central Atlanta Progress (CAP)/Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, are directing a $6 million enhancement of the two Peachtree Street bridges which cross over the Interstate-75/85 Connector near the Brookwood split and Ralph McGill Boulevard respectively. This effort will celebrate the bridges on either end of Midtown as gateways to Atlanta's urban core. Construction began in Fall 2015 and includes installation of new barrier-separated sidewalks, landscaping, bridge fencing, lighting, and gateway features. To-date the pedestrian barrier/planter walls have been built and landscaped on both bridges. New fencing and signage has been installed on the South (Downtown) bridge, which will be fully complete by October 2016. Installation of new fence posts began on the North (Midtown) bridge in August. Shop drawings are underway for the gateway arch elements to be installed on the North bridge in early 2017.

The 400 Corridor is densifying.

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2016/09/30/new-mixed-use-village-set-for-alpharetta.html

This is the 4th Mixed-use village proposed near an exit on 400.

There is Avalon, the development by Fuqua right off the Haynes Bridge exit, This Windward Lennar village, and the one off Holcomb Bridge. Pretty sad the mayors of these cities rejected Marta.

There are now two tall cranes at Avalon too, and the office building topped off looks similar in height to the Cricket office at Lindbergh

Dewberry Park ?

Maybe he could leave a true Legacy to Midtown and donate that parcel of land as a Greenspace - Dewberry Park!

Probably NOT going to happen, although it would look nice directly across from the Federal Reserve building.

With Piedmont Park just a couple blocks away, I honestly wouldn't see the point. IMO it would contribute better by adding to the urban core with retail/residential/office/etc.

I love when moments like this occur and it gets people speculating! Always interesting to hear what ideas people come up with. Alas, a commenter on curbed provided the following statement:

"Thanks for everyone’s interest. I work with KvnGreen at Midtown Alliance. I can confirm that the location we have chosen for this event does not relate to any news about a commercial real estate announcement. Just an ideal spot to celebrate some national recognition coming to Midtown. Will reach out to Josh and clue him in. Thx."

I'm hoping it's not something silly like "with all the recent development, Midtown officially has/will have the densest block in the southeast" or something like that.

There has been some very noteworthy Midtown projects announced since I have lived in Atlanta (12 years) and I don't believe The Midtown Alliance has ever hosted an event like this to announce it. It could be anything, but my guess is an Apple store coming to the Colony Square. Maybe 98 14th Street starting.

Not to throw a wet blanket on this news, but this doesn't seem like construction is imminent. Seems like it's going to be a trailer or something that will simply go away if funding falls through or not enough units are sold.

Right. This is just for a temporary sales center but it is progress nonetheless.

On Midtown Alliance announcement, where are we getting the idea that they would announce a real estate project? That's just not going to happen.

Agreed. I think people are being a little shortsighted with some of the recent developments.

Indeed. Trump Tower had such a center up for a long time before its project fell through (whew, we really dodged a bullet btw).

But it does represent some level of investment, and confirmation that the project still has a pulse.
