- probably in anticipation of the second skin installation (?)
Note the new brackets along the roof line.
I think those will help support the second skin.

Public art unveiling Oct 12th at 6pm at the Telus Garden Laneway. It's a piece by Martin Boyce called Beyond the Sea against the Sun.

The poles/cabling for the overhead lighting seems to be installed in the alley now as well.

Definitely. The grey everything is still way too overpowering. The faded colours of the lights and their scant placement and small size just looks pathetic, these were my last hope for this project. They should have varied the sizes more and made interesting clusters.

I really think if they just painted the concrete of the condo tower a deep red it would save this project from it's banality.

I think that post may belong to the Kingston Hotel.

A lot will depend on how brightly the lamps are lit at night. They need to be bright.

the ghetto-chic wires and lanterns would be a great retrofit if this was a dumpy lane full of old buildings, rather than a brand-new 4-storey concrete alley. We can worry about our alleys when our streets are sufficiently saturated with vibrancy, and right now we're not even close.

Thanks, I'm glad to be back after a couple of weeks on the road to New York and Virginia.

Here's an early morning shot today of the most complete testing I've seen of the edge lighting on the condo tower. Also, some more shots from the alley that I took yesterday. Some broken paving stones and a little commercial/retail(?) unit in the alley closer to the Georgia plaza. Or, maybe it's an office entrance?
