I believe GO is building the bridge so that more service can be added to the West Harbour GO station. Right now they're sharing the double track with CN which is too crowded for more train 4 trains a day in each direction, weekdays. This would also accommodate future service to Niagara Falls.

the St-Martin boul. is just South of A-440

St. Martin station already has a '' park and ride '' , but it is underused

the BRT should have a ridership of 70,000. Right now, the Pie-IX Line is around 40,000

The three REM lines in this map is Phase 1. The Caisse maintains a completion date of 2020.

There is talk for an eventual 2nd phase that will go deep into the east-island.


Seriously, this map is dope. For an island with a population of 2 million, that's gonna be a pretty tight rapid transit system.

of course: the main missing link in that map is the extention of the orange to the Bois-Franc REM station. They only have to dig another 1,2km to reach it, so I hope they get that done.

That's inaccurate.

The REM will start operating in 2020, but the completion date of Phase 1 is 2021.

When the REM first starts operating, it will only be single tracked north of Central Station. That's because the existing Deux-Montagnes commuter line will temporarily keep operating on the remaining track during rush hours.

The second track will only be converted after the REM starts operating.

2020/2021 seem very optimistic as start dates.. but great if they can achieve it.

The REM ridership projections seem low.
The REM lines such as the network planned could probably attract 200,000 - 300,000 or more just on their own.

The REM will attract more than 140k, I think this is a very conservative number.

What exactly is the REM?

I thought it was LRT, but it is now sounding like what the Smartrack proposed by Toronto's mayor would be.
