Funny to see Calgary tower being dwarfed by all the behemoths these days. Don't get me wrong: it's a good thing!

I think it should have been built taller, or away from the core like Space Needle in Seattle (which is a much nicer looking tower), having the observation deck with a good chunk of it's view looking directly at office towers is kinda weird, I like it personally, but I'm an architecture nerd, lots of other people think it's stupid.

Probably would have been a lot taller if designed five years later.

The modern tower was just coming into its own in the mid 1960s. Montreal was one of the leaders. It's 3 tallest in the early 60s were taller than anything Chicago could come up with!

What will make it or break it for me will be the section that wraps around the back and encloses the crown. If they use the same clear glass as the front I think it will be a fail. The glass is so clear on the crown it doesn't even look like it's there.

It is not that I don't know what those buildings look like. I think the more recent angle is more unique because:
- you can't just go up there like we can with the Tower
- it includes the tower in the image (so gives historical perspective as to height
- includes mountains in between the skyline better (or in a different way) if pano'ed more to the right

Anyway - all good.
